Going by Langer’s interview it’s going to be the same top 6 that played the second innings last test.

Still deciding on the bowlers which is as expected. Cummins, Siddle, Pattinson and Lyon for me.
Stick to Locky’s caviar FFS!!

I know some have mentioned in the previous test match thread about Warner's test average being 47 and having 6000+ test runs and have tried to used this as justification for his continued selection....and yes, he had a great World Cup (although ODIs are a different form of the game to tests)

However, it's important to note that in the test match arena:

- average is 59.65 in Australia (predominantly flat-track conditions), but only 36.26 overseas

- 15 of his 21 test centuries have been in Australia, once again, in predominantly flat-track conditions (which has been the situation across all Australian test venues since the early 2000's, not to mention boundary distances becoming shorter since then) where aggressive batsmen can easily play shots off the front-foot once the Kookaburra ball is 20 overs old.

- average of only 30.21 in the UK from 10 test matches

- 93 runs in his past 7 test innings (average of 13.28). Simply not good enough for an opening batsman.

Seriously, if he doesn't score runs in this Headingley test match, his position in the side has to come into question.

Khawaja is also skating on thin ice, 404 runs in his past 16 innings (only 1 century against an amateur Sri Lankan side, and 1 fifty) at an average of 28.85.

For an opening batsman or number 3, that's poor.

If the selectors are serious about the test championship, they're going to have to make some big changes looking to the future because there's been several under performing batsmen that have been carried for a long time now.

We can't continue to leave Harris on the bench while others fail. Patterson should have been in the squad, possibly Burns too.

There’s no doubt his away record is average, it’s even worse in England.

I don’t think it’s just the flat track element of playing at home, though. Although it’s a factor. It’s also a case of just being used to the conditions, not that the conditions are easy to bat on. If they were easy we’d see more international batsmen do well here, but they often struggle with the bounce.

With all that said, I see no harm in trying Harris if Warner fails again.
