MATCH REPORT - Raiders 15 Sharks 14:

Raiders win Golden Point thriller against Sharks
Andrew Ferguson | September 1 2019 4:37PM

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks v Canberra Raiders

Five field goals were booted in a game for the first time since the 1970 Grand Final, as Canberra secured a 15-14 win against the Sharks in a finals quality contest at Shark Park this afternoon.

The game provided finals quality intensity from start to finish, with big hits, big runs, end to end football, close scoreline, great tries, a swag of field goals and a win in golden point.

How many times is that this season they have scored more tries but lost? 5?
That's gotta be some kind of record.

And two of those losses came against the Raiders.
It is 5
It is also a record - The record was previously 4, held by the Bulldogs in 1975.

Aaron Woods will be having nightmares about trying to tackle Bateman. It was quite bizarre watching Bateman run around like some kind of halfback on him and Woods just waving his arms around

Thanks.

In other words, if the Sharks had a decent goal kicker they could be sitting third outright. Instead, they have to beat Wests next week to make the finals.

Was Woods waving his arms? I don't recall him putting in that much effort/being close enough to the play to be in shot on tv.

f**king insipid effort - one from a player who is used to choking when a finals berth is on the line.

I just want to say that it's extremely pleasing that the world's biggest meathead Gallen went out at home on a loss.

He owed us from last year when he allowed that try after the touchie raised his flag...

Not sure why you bothered responding. The reffing was even. The idea Sharks got dudded for calls in Gallen's last home game... weak as piss.

Graham shoves CNK in the air before landing (no challenge) for CNK to be ruled knock on- Bateman is clearly stripped in a 3/4 man gang tackle on the 5th in extra time- the Horsburg try- etc etc etc- plenty of 50/50s either way.

Both sides offside in GP, just one side set up 2 passes deep/risked one extra deep pass to correct for that.

That's some neat calculating there. Makes quite a difference to some teams.
They should do one that recognises one of the fundamental physical & mental skills of the playing group/player & rewards a club sort enough to build an intelligent roster based around the varied rules, challenges & requirements of the game.

Oh wait- it's called the NRL ladder. And the Sharks are mediocre on it.

But the Raiders are pretty good.
