Gaz has kicked 5 FG for us
He has already kicked one against the GG to win us the game.
Thanks for the correction GD. Geez we won a game before this year in golden point or a field goal to win us a game in the past few minutes of a game.
Oh well I am just remembering or focussing on the negative.
But 5...out of how many attempts? ;)....dont bother i believe you

The end of the season can't come quickly enough for these two teams.

It seems an eternity ago, but in fact, it was less than a year since the Dragons were most unlucky to lose in the second week of the 2018 finals against the Rabbitohs.

What followed for them in 2019 has been most disappointing.

As for the Titans, the brave souls who viewed them as finals contenders during the pre-season will think twice before doing so again in 2020.

The side that prepares - and plays - in the most professional manner will win this game. As to which side that is, it's anyone's guess.

The Rundown
Key match-up
Jai Arrow v Tyson Frizell. This pair would find a spot in every team in the NRL. Arrow has been a shining light for the Titans while Frizell remains a mainstay for the Blues. Both are in the running for Test selection come the end of the year.

For the Titans to win
Defend, defend and then defend again. The Titans have struggled to maintain defensive intensity for more than just a few sets at a time for most the past few months. Can they achieve what they've been missing in their last hurrah for 2019?

For the Dragons to win
Hope the young brigade show enough to suggest better times are ahead. Tristan Sailor and Zac Lomax both have the ability to become central figures in a good attack.

Brett Kimmorley says
They played a few weeks ago and there was about 60 points scored. It could be the same again this weekend. It is a hard game to get a read on. The Titans might actually be able to produce one last strong performance at home. I’ve no idea who is going to play out of their skin for the Titans but this is a game they can win. Titans by 1

Stat Attack
Since 2013, the Titans have had just one season in which they've finished the year with 10 or more wins. That came in 2016 when they had 11 and squeezed into the top eight.

And another thing ...
Barring an amazing haul in his final match, Michael Gordon will retire in 13th place on the NRL's all-time list of point scorers. Luke Burt (1793) is in 12th spot.

Titans v Dragons
What will be the result in their round 25 clash?

DRAGONS

Stat attack: Round 25 v Titans

The Dragons are preparing for their final match of the 2019 season and will be determined to finish on a high with a confident display against the Gold Coast Titans.

The Titans are guaranteed the wooden spoon with just four wins while the Dragons will finish the season in 15th win or lose on Saturday.

The Titans boast the worst defence (16th) and second-worst attack (15th) in the competition. The Dragons fare better in attack (12th) but only just trump the Titans defensively (15th).

Over 21 matches between the two sides, the Dragons have produced 14 victories while the Titans have won seven. The Dragons also have a strong record at Cbus Super Stadium, winning five of nine matches at the ground.

Attack is where the Dragons separate themselves from the Titans, producing an extra 52 tackles busts and 18 line breaks throughout the season.

Danger man

Alex Brimson

Brimson has been a live spark for the Titans this season and played a significant role in the three Titans victories' he featured in.

With 36 appearances in the top grade to his name, Brimson has 11 tries with four of those coming this season.

Although injury has hampered his time on the field, the 20-year-old has five try assists and averages over 100 running metres per game.

In his last outing of the year, Brimson will be important for the Dragons to shut down on Saturday.

Key match-ups

Gareth Widdop v Tyrone Peachey

Gareth Widdop plays his final game for the Dragons and you can fully expect the club captain and English international to be fired up for it.

Widdop crossed for his first try of the year last week, after missing majority of the year through a second consecutive shoulder reconstruction. But in his nine games this year, the 30-year-old has produced four try assists and forced five dropouts.

He lines up against Tyrone Peachey who has been one of the most consistent Titans players this season. Peachey has two tries and three try assists, highlighting his attacking potential in the lowly Titans outfit.

If Widdop's influence is greater than Peachey's on Saturday, it will go a long way to the Dragons finishing on a high.

Blake Lawrie v Jai Arrow

At just 23 years of age, Arrow already has State of Origin honours on his CV and it's not hard to see why. The tireless worker has 491 tackles (39 misses), 50 tackle breaks and 812 post-contact metres in 16 appearances this season.

While at just 22 years old Lawrie has been enjoying a break year after working his way into the Dragons top line-up and missing only two all season.

Lawrie is tireless in defence with 755 tackles at an incredible 91.4% efficiency (39 misses). He has also amassed 2,123 running metres from an average of 10 hit ups per game.

If Saints lose then it will surely guarantee to be his last game in the coaching box.
Jesus are you saying that a win against the wooden spooners in our last game SAVES his job ?

Surely the decision has already been made and our somewhat guilty belief that every loss was a nail in the coffin may have ironically come true.A lot of pain for the ultimate gain.

Tristan Sailor on the wing ?? Really that seems to be McGregors go to position - Play everyone on the wing.
Why wouldn't he have Hunt at 9, Norman at 7 and leave Sailor at 1 ???

I mean the best games Hunt has played in the last 2 years is at 9 for Qld - Just Saying

You would think that decision was made weeks ago but knowing the Dragons, if Saints put on a big score against the last placed Titans, it may get Mary another season. They are easily pleased with low expectations.

Wowsers!! Lomax out and the same 3 & 4 again? Is he blind?
This clown must have played a big part in keeping both Aitken and Lafai at saints. Who would ever keep selecting them for any other reason? Too stubborn to admit he is wrong again
