Nice way to finish off what's been a bad season for the Cowboys.

Congrats to the Minor Premiers. Winning 20 games in a season is one hell of an achievement. Although I hate the Storm, credit where it is due.

They are both clearly playing this knowing that whatever the score it doesn't matter. So different from last night..!!
No real effort needed tonight, so glad no injuries, suspensions and it gave the less experienced players a chance to have some game time

Not convinced Hughes is an upgrade in the halves over Croft. Sure, he’s a much better defender but how many times was he caught in two minds with the ball in his hands in the last few weeks? Kaufusi has been rendered pretty toothless in attack in the last few weeks. Changing halfbacks two weeks out from the semis is either genius or insanity, kinda leaning towards the latter at the moment. Having said that, Bellamy must find a place in the starting side for Papenhuyzen and Hughes is too good a player to leave out.

MATCH REPORT - Storm 24 Cowboys 16:

Smith shoots down Cowboys to Storm into Semi Finals
Sam Bourke | September 6 2019 10:21PM

Melbourne Storm v North Queensland Cowboys

The Melbourne Storm have cruised to victory in their final regular season of the game, running out 24-16 winners over the Cowboys at AAMI Park tonight.

Storm skipper Cameron Smith was superb for the home side, creating two tries and having one disallowed, sending an ominous warning to his rivals as finals football looms next week. Rookie fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen was also outstanding, making 30 runs for close to 300m in an astonishing performance from a player that was the third string fullback for the Storm at the beginning of the season.

The Cowboys ended a horror season that never got going, with the retirement of club legend Jonathan Thurston proving too big a gap to fill in a thoroughly disappointing season for coach Paul Green and his roster.
