Can we all finally accept that stadiums are better than suburban parks?

Well....

Storm in their last 2 years at Olympic Park couldnt break a 12k average. Now they are sitting at +18k and growing.

Parra’s last year at PS was 12k and the highest they EVER got to was 16k. At WSS, they are already at 21k.

Just this weekend, Brooky pulls 15k while WSS pulls 30k. Does anyone really think it was better watching the Brooky crowd?

Can we all finally admit that stadiums are better for the clubs than these shitty suburban parks?

Yeah but what about the last 20 years of woeful parra ?

They got a brand new stadium and went nowhere.

Maybe all grounds should upgraded to modern standards! Don’t spend billions on Allianz for the SCG Trust. Give them a SWS type stadium and spend the rest upgrading Penrith, Cronulla and Brookvale to 25k modern grounds. Then crowds will grow.

Yes ANZ is beautiful on Grand Final day, it just stunning for any other game when there is 65, 000 to 70, 000 less crowd wise

Unpopular opinion: Sydney should have a carbon copy of Parra Stadium at the SFS location. All other stadiums should be abandoned. ANZ only hosts prelims, grand finals, and origins. Everything else at Parra/SFS.

ANZ is also a crap stadium even when filled. God I wish we could have a proper NFL/EPL style 80,000 seater.

The facilities at ANZ are great but as for a ground for viewing football it is just crap. Yes totally agree with you about a proper NFL/ EPL style 80,000 seater.

Maybe just a slightly bigger crowd capacity at the SFS location, 35,000 to 40,000 but otherwise a carbon copy of Bankwest, then bulldoze ANZ and build a proper rectangular 80, 000 seater venue.

There is room for both. Sure, it would be great if every team had a Bankwest but the best we can hope for is upgraded suburban grounds for most teams with our big derby games between the bigger supported clubs (dogs, tigers, parra, dragons, Souths) played in front of big crowds in modern stadiums such as wss, sfs and anz.

If Sydney had a Suncorp type stadium and another Bankwest and AAMI park the crowds would be incredible.

It'll be years before that happens unfortunately

"But but Leichardt!" scream the Balmain diehards. "It wouldn't have been a perfect sendoff for Wobbie if we played at ANZ"

You only need a 50k stadium for league. Who cares if AFL get 100k for their fumbleball GFs?

Wests and bulldogs moving all games to bankwest would be a good start.
Then a 35k allianz replacement for roosters and Souths.
Then start the lobbying for Dragons and sharks to share a new stadium south of Sydney
Manly and Penrith are screwed sadly as you can’t justify $250mill for one club venues.
At least we’d have 80% of Sydney clubs playing in suitable venues in this scenario.

There was absolutely no comparison on the look for the game between the aami/bankwest games and the brookvale game. Manly v sharks looked like a second division game in comparison.
