I believe there are going to be some massive changes put into place so don't expect any answers too quickly.

I think the changes could look like this to protect Mcgregor as much as possible which is ludicrous but I think Parras feats this year of coming from last to prelim semis will excite the board that a huge comeback is achievable especially as they believe they have the cattle to make this happen (albeit missing 2-3 classy backs) .

Football Director (Gus Gould or Similar to manage the football operations)
Senior Ass Coach (Furner,Flanagan,Brown etc...)
Appointment of new Attacking and Defensive coaches
Young potentially Moved to Coach CC so no longer defensive coach..
Millward stays as is..
Mcgregor given a performance KPI for start of next season w Ass Coach being the safety net if needed.

This is what I think will eventuate..w

Pretty good analysis. Maybe, as you've indicated, the people aren't known.

I'll add one in, without predicting outcome.

Changes to Gong/Kogs trading split. I recall Gus ( or Ch9) raising the travel and fragmented/dislocated arrangements for players living & training.

What about manly's feats going from 15th last year to 6th this year as a result of a NEW COACH !!!!

I am thinking that they are waiting for the CC team to finish the season so they can then sack their coach. How sad is that. Sack a coach when he finishes a Finals series and keep one that does not get to one. Go figure.

If Young takes over that gig I can see no Finals for Saints next season in any grades with Mary and Young coaching so you may as well enjoy this finals series of watching the CC team.

Geez I hope they win as it will make them look so stupid if they sack Matt Head.

Mary will stay as coach and Young to remain and take over as CC coach.

Announcement will be made grand final week with two or three journos rolling out some bullshit excuse stories about DeBellin/injuries etc, and how Mary needs to be given another year. FMD its 2016 all over again?!

But remember these aren't excuses for our poor performance this year, there 'REASONS'.

Brisbane make the 8 and has a bad game - time for a review with potentially heads to roll.. Press are all over it..

Dragons come second last, won 2 games by 1 point so could have finished last. Review time... Lets call my best mate Phil Gould.. Nothing being mentioned in the press so they are hoping we will all calm down or go away so Mary can continue his sh*t job... So so frustrating..
This is spot on.

Review finds Dragons need trusted advisor – someone like Gus

Phil Gould has tabled his review into St George Illawarra, but his work at the club may not be over.

Gould and the Dragons football department have submitted their reviews following the joint-venture outfit’s 15th-placed finish, the worst in the club’s history. One of the key findings is the need to bolster the Red V brains trust to ensure coach Paul McGregor has experienced sounding boards around him. That includes creating a new ‘‘adviser’’ position, someone with the football nous and expertise to help turn the joint-venture outfit around. Someone like Gould.

While some coaches would feel threatened by the prospect of having someone of Gould’s stature involved in their organisation, McGregor welcomes the prospect. The way ‘‘Mary’’ sees it, having a premiership-winning mentor – the most successful NSW coach in State of Origin history – can only be of benefit. If Gould can’t commit to the role, other experienced football minds will be considered.

The review also suggests bringing specialist coaching consultants into the inner sanctum. Someone of the ilk of Matthew Johns, who has previously helped clubs develop playmakers, would fit the bill if available. There may also be a restructure of the roles of the assistant coaches. One of the main themes to emerge from Gould’s review is the need for the club to properly establish its culture. It became apparent there isn’t a definitive DNA that defines the Dragons.

What does it mean to pull on the Red V? What are the values the wider organisation stands for? It’s likely an outside facilitator will be engaged to help define club culture from the top down.

The need for strong foundations was highlighted when the review analysed the Jack de Belin situation. The impact of the star forward’s sexual assault charges was felt right across the club, with some of his teammates’ partners having strong opinions on the matter.

That led to some awkward situations in social settings, normally an opportunity to solidify bonds within the extended Dragons family.

The cultural issue is important, given there were no red flags raised from reviewing the Dragons’ physical performance. The injury rates over the past four years have been relatively low, while all the stats suggest the players are fit and well prepared.

The Dragons haven’t much room to move salary cap wise next year, but the need to strengthen their winger stocks was identified.

The Dragons board has now gone away to consider the review.

What a load of absolute crap!
Mary needs a mentor, the players need a specialist coach like Matt Johns and the roster needs a new winger.
Thanks Gus, amazing work.

I found the 2 points highlighted the most interesting as well as disturbing.
Point 1 - The fact that we, the Dragons, have such an famous brand and we have no culture surrounding it! My word, what have we become? Take it for what its worth, I think the JV evaporated what culture we had. Our DNA, as it is put, was based on the 11 straight premierships, blood and bandages and playing to win and be competitive enough to compete for a premiership each year. We are now just seeking mediocracy and hopefully making the finals. Our famous jersey now comes in several varieties, why? White with the red V, should be our only strip, none of this alternative or "away" BS, which is just to appease some factions. Pulling on the red V should be an honour, not just a pay cheque. St George and the Dragon emblem needs to resonate with every player.
Point 2 - the fact that our players are fit and well prepared flies in the face, that they are the first to be sacked (almost each year). Also, the fact our injury rate is low also flies in the face of the well rolled out excuse that our season was hijacked by injury. Yes we've had some, and to some key players, but continuously playing injured players beggers belief (Exhibit A - T. Sims this year).

If your aim is to keep the coach, then it’s a reasonable suggestion...

Problem is, while Brown gets fired, we think it’s ok.

The example of the eels and manly are both very reasonable to consider. After backing Mary earlier, I feel uneasy with the mental disintegration that has taken the team, and I feel unconvinced that this solution is the best for us.

The cost of what they consider seems on par to hiring a new coach and paying out Mary.

I really need to consider my membership...
