It is such an incredible disadvantage that we sacrifice competitive seasons to develop players and when finally the players aren’t raw, clubs that took advantage of us being weaker take them.

Signing juniors to long term deals or short term deals as we’re doing now is the equivalent to choosing between getting knocked down on your face or your back. Systemic change is needed, but let’s be honest, does anyone here really think the NRL will do something pro-us?
Fmd you're you bitch. We suck because we suck. The club has always been a shambles and we can only blame ourselves. Man the f**k up

Wtf are you talking about. You act like the team poorly performing and poor systemic issues that negatively affect us are conflicting statements.

Before last night the 3 teams with the longest wait since a GF was Canberra, Knights and us. All 3 are development clubs so yes a huge part is the club being run poorly but compare it to the Storm with 0 Victorians in their squad after 20 years. What benefit is there to develop talent?

Be smart enough to manage and keep the right ones (Graham,Lewis,Coote) comp winners in the last few years. We are simply incompetent

Hindsight is amazing.

All that time and money we invest and we get to flip a coin to decide which player will kick on and which player won’t.

A coin flip isn’t sufficient reward for the work we do, regardless of the club’s competency.

So keep Coote and lose Moylan? Lewis' attitude is why he left here.

That doesn't explain the other 2 sides either. Not every club that develops is incompetent either

Lewis' attitude comes down to the club being a joke more than anything. He could have been a 300 game player and out greatest but that means nothing because we are nothing

Graham and Lewis are the only players I have any regrets whatsoever in leaving. Blake might become another. That’s a damn good record for a club that’s churned our the talent we have in the last decade.

Cleary for Bennett is looking grim I must say.

The Storm are a development club too. They get their juniors from Queensland, that's all. It's not like all of ours are from Penrith these days.

Have we really produced a lot of talent? I guess it depends on your definition.

We produce a lot of first graders, but we don’t produce many genuine stars.

Most of the guys we’ve had play origin have just played one or two matches. The last genuine star we produced was Michael Jennings or Wade Graham.

This is a misconception. Just because they aren't from Victoria doesn't mean they don't develop them. They have systems in QLD and have given debuts to a lot of the guys in their squad.

Good metre numbers but I prefer if we got a prop that bends the line.
This season we didn't have much trouble getting down the other end, just what to do after that.
A prop with a bit of impact that could off load might add some variety to our attack.

I think Woods brings variety. Granted his play the balls are slow but I do think he bends the line & also has a good offload.

So it’s no to Walker? This is from today’s Weidler article:

Walker played some excellent football this season after he was cleared by the courts. Expect him to sign a new but reduced deal with the Sea Eagles any time soon.

Looks that way, as we are looking for a right centre to replace Whare I’d seriously like us to have a look at Enari Tuala, specialist right centre, off contract and not being renewed by the cowboys, had his development farked by Green playing him left wing when he’s a right side specialist, I’d also like us to have a shot at Jai Field and Lachlan Timms from the dragons CC cup squad, Field as a fullback and Timms as a bench prop

Is that how a team in a developing state should be doing things? If us and Canberra took that same attitude we'd have no kids left

My theory is we don't give them enough time in lower grades developing is why this happens. Maybe instead of developing guys at 15. Should do Storm way and pick the cream of crop at u18's level instead
