8 from 10 is a Melbourne Storm in a good year start. It's possible no one will get that. It's certain McGregor won't.

All McGregor will have to do is stop the few remaining fans from burning down the joint and the board will be happy. 4 out of 8 should be enough for them, maybe 3.

Given that they have favoured leaking bits of info all year over making any announcements - and are still drip feeding bits of info about the Frankenstein's monster they are creating - I don't expect we'll hear any numbers that they can be held accountable for anytime soon.

Spot on
50% win ratio will be spun as being a top 8 team and playing finals footy.
3/8 can also be explained away especially if JDB doesn't make it.
2/8 will be impossible to rationalize.

I heard something similar on mmm about a month ago, but it was wasn’t 8 out of 10, it was a review after 8 games with the emphasis on how the side was playing, no kpi about wins.

But if Flanagan is being recruited up, that’s a good start for the club to ease into any immediate and sudden de-Maryfication process.

It will be horrific for Mary having Flanagan breathing down his neck 24/7, quietly hoping and praying that Mary does not find any success.

So too a few players may also be looking for a fresh face. Especially the ones who spoke for Mary and he delivered 15th spot so eloquently.

Even if Mary starts winning, a lot of the success will be credited to Flanagan as everybody secretly knows Mary can’t quite manage to win on his own convincingly or consistently.

And the club can’t keep the fans more placated than installing a recent premiership winning coach.

Mary should see the enemy not just outside of the gates, but inside the war room. He should find the ethics, dignity and grace to surrender peacefully.

To at least be able to say sometime in the future, that he could have achieved something if he hadn’t decided to leave. Keep the decision with him.

I wonder why he prefers the disgrace and humiliation of being sacked?!

He has to live with that sadness forever, it’s not good for his friends etc. He should think of them.

They can’t be enjoying his failures if they care.

In the future grandpa Mary either decided to leave and move on to better things or he was sacked because he was an abject failure. Don’t let history judge you so harshly Paul. There is no miracle on the horizon.

And because we all care for Mary, he should go gracefully with his reputation not entirely destroyed ( which is what he strangely seeks). It’s for his own good really, putting him above any other concern.

Plus sgi fans like the idea of stomping on the sharks wherever possible.

Stealing their premiership winning coach is another tick for the fans and members of sgi. A small but happily held middle finger!

Judgment day is coming for you Mary, but you can save yourself if you act now.

I agree wholeheartedly with the many lastest posts mediocrity will suffice with the current coach and by the look of it the board too.The claytons review what a lot of rot it was only so Gould could get a foot in the door .
The introduction of Flanagan & possibly the ubiquitous Gould should act as some signal for change and if fortunes dramatically change in the club it could only be because of this pairs introduction and nothing McMediocrity brings to the table but at what monetary cost do these come at as ,already pointed out elsewhere I am sure there is no Pro Bono involved with either.
Who does the recruitment do they leave that up to Mary if so will we end up with players of the same ilk as Graham , Lattimore , Maranta ,Kaufusi or even another George Rose while good at what they do, do they do what we need to go beyond middle of the road.
I will not criticise the current players abilities until we see them under another coach because that would be attributing part of the blame on them and in some way justify keeping the coach.
Take the centre position it has become a generic position in league taking over from winger ( which has become a truely specialist position) it really is only a 2nd edge forward for your play makers to find or cutout and only your super star players (ie Mitchell) make it a creative position but our coach has trouble getting his charges doing the things fill ins in other teams do ( SOO Wighton & Trbojevic etc ) communicate in defence and they are hardly censured when they fail .
Whether your a fan of Flanagan or not I am sure that mediocrity is not going to be something he aspires to but can he hold sway over the Mary and the board and how long is it before he is allowed back into the realm of being a NRL coach.

We are trying to get Tyson over to the tigers.

We have just recruited statisticians to help compile a list of junior targets. Mad scientists and physicists looking at dropped balls!

I suppose we will get some horoscope people in as well! Anything is better than a 45 year Farah with a broken leg.

Even so, a lot of your senior players are not aiming up. It’s part maryfication and it’s part laziness.

Flanagan won’t tolerate it.

I think there is a positive correlation between those players who were speaking up in the press about how great Mary was and that players loss in form.

Vaughn and Graham should be shown the door ASAP. They are on their way down big time.

Passengers on the titanic, prepared to go down with the ship before they climb into the superleague lifeboat. It’s ok, they won’t so much as get splashed.

On the balance of blaming players v Mary, I’d say it varies, but at the moment, I’d argue a clean 50/50.

It’s true the players are infected by Maryitis and that may account for a proportion of the 50% I have allocated. This “ depression footy” they excel at these days. This woeful giving up in the second half.

McInness gave a damn this year. Champion. If he was at the Tigers we’d probably be trying blood transfusions from him to other players these days. Start off with 50 mils.

We should be looking at a 3 year building process to bring our juniors to first grade, if they all make it we will be well stocked with backs
We have a few forwards that are still young and improve over the next three seasons.

Yes there a few good junior players on the books. I like Wendell jnr. He shows a lot of promise.

But the scruffy aging players relying on reputation alone should be moved on.

I don’t mean hunt because I’m a bit of closet Hunt fan (an illness too serious to tell people in public). I’ve had therapy and hypnosis about it, but it hasn’t helped. When he missed that sitter gf catch, I thought about all the games he’s won for the donkeys!

Mary is wholly responsible for destroying him And this counselling rubbish after origin didn’t help him.
It was a League-ally perverted and medically unsound attempt to make him the player he was.

Mary the shrink? No thanks jumping looks more positive.

Over the past five years they have changed the Joint Venture Chairman, CEO, Assistant Coaches, Recruitment, HPU Staff, Playing Rosters, Captains, Uniforms, etc. with the only protected species being the Head Coach. Why can't the Board realise that an average winning ratio of 48% spiralling to 30% this year will never win you the Premiership as the Premiers these days like 1956-1966 have success ratios of at least 60%? This year the Dragons only achieved half of this figure and things will never get better with an uninspirational coach.
Success needs to be judged by acceptable track records not personality or leadership.

yes and Leyland P76 car of the year .......

I did not mind the P76 . Perhaps it’s design was just a bit too futuristic compared to the Holden’s - Fords and Valiants that we’re running around at the time. And of course the biggest mistake was not giving it a name , that was its biggest downfall . Why did they give it its design number and nothing else I wonder ?

Perhaps he who knows all - our Mary could give us an answer .
