Seeing the powerhouse talent on show tonite l kept thinking how far off the pace we are compared to those 2.

The ferociousness in defence. The determination to not let the other team cross your line. We showed none of that.

The toughness of the 2 number 1s. Hitting it up like backrowers. Ours is a cat who refuses to play.

The hookers. One runs the side like a 7 while the other is a newbie who scored an individual effort in the biggest game of the year.
We dont even have one yet.

The two 6's ..everything comes off the back of them. Ours has underperformed for a decade now at the warriors and continued the trend this year. And will nek year. He will never deliver consistently week in and out.

The tough gang tackling. Bending and twisting blokes into submission in every tackle in every set. The top 3 have decided the new order of things is defence. They are miles ahead of the rest. We are lazy off the line. Soft. Afraid to get hurt.

2020 will be lean for us. Uninspiring. Uneventful. We wont compete with the top 3.

Mate we are so far off the pace it's not even funny. We'll be battling for 8th if we're lucky.

Yep. Borderline for the semis based on whether teams like the knights Tigs and Drags improve.

The 'six again' was a howler, but the Raiders had enough ball and opportunities, including playing against 12 men, to win half a dozen games. Roosters won that on the back of great defense and taking their chances when they came.

Agree with this - The Raiders created very little in terms of opportunities, despite seemingly having lots of possession and territory. The only time they looked likely was when Wighton ran the ball. Their lack of a real strike option meant the Roosters just had to number up correctly, which they did, pretty much every time - their defense was outstanding.
As much as I hate the Roosters as a club, to be fair, they play the game in the right spirit and in a style that is good to watch and have actually got a few players who are quite likeable and seem like decent fellas (Tedesco, Morris, Tupou, Keary, Takiwakywoowoo, Aubeson).
I feel dirty after saying that - going for a bath!

Oh for phuques sake. The ref cost the Raiders the game?

Seriously?

If the ref's were on brown paper bags they would not have made the ridiculous call to sin bin Cronk with the Raiders deep on the attack, with all the ball and the Roosters gassed.

The Raiders lost because they played just like The Sharks did in 2017. No Ideas on how to score. Spent enough time at the Roosters end to win 15 games of footy but had no idea how to breach The Roosters line.

Raiders lack class and it showed. The Bully Boy mentality only takes a team so far.

1 The Roosters Trainer. Some could say bad luck. Im ok with that if that the onlfy things that happens. But Wighton was in untouched.
2. Papali isnt tackled off the ball, he catches that & runs over Cronk every day of the week or that the very least gets a quick play the ball. Maybe not a send off, but definitely a pentalty try.
3. The Manu knock on in the play the ball. Sure, if its the only thing that happens, no dramas.
4. The six again. Wighton is in front of the ref when he yells six again & waves. Wighton follows the ball & doesnt see the CHANGE of ruling. Whislt the change was the correct one, what it doesnt allow for is that the Raiders were set for play 1 & the winger had come in to take the hit up. At the very least, stop play for a captains explanation, to allow a reset of the raiders defense due to to the refereeing error. It was an error becasue the referees changed their initial decision.
Again, all of thsoe things are not important if in isolation, & the addage that Raiders had enough ball to win, which they did, is simply not true. opportunities to score in Grand finals are few & far between with relaxed 10m rullings & early off the mark. Raiders were robbed of 3.
If the referees had done their jobs properly, Raiders were up by 12 ponts at half time & the Roosters were shot ducks.

Player for player the Raiders were better across the park. Sezer played all over Cronk. Wighton was best on park followed by Klokstad & Bateman. All the guns were well contained for the Roosters.
just one of those decisions go the Raiders way, they win. Comfortably.

A one sided argument

Now go through the game and pick out all the free rides Canberra got.

Refs were phuqued, but they were bilaterally phuqued,

Canberra won the penalty count, the possession count, had more penalties, a much higher tackle efficiency with far less missed tackles and more tackles in the opposition 20, the post contact metres, the all run metres, tackle breaks, kick return metres and offloads. All this and they could only score one try.

They beat themselves. They could have won 3 times with the leg ups they earned and got from the referees.

Rooters did exactly the same against Sharks in last year's finals. Yeah ...Raiders had a chance to put them away but they didn't just like the Sharks couldn't win it

You get 4 to 5 scroing opportunities in a grand final. Raiders had 3 taken off them from the refs, & one they rooted by themselves. Leilua wasnt helped by Rapana staying out. Should have cut in.

Sharks cost themselves with the game, not the referees. Sharks bombed 3 tries, most notably, lewies over the line
