Great decade. Plenty of thrills, magic and footy greatness.
Fantastic footy. My first born went to his first game Rd 1 2010 as a seven month old and finished it with a GF.
Well done all. Loved most minutes of it (2013 preliminary gets very forgotten ) and looking forward to the 2020s.

It's been an interesting decade for the game at the top.
Finally casting off News Ltd ownership, clubs going broke, NRL having more money than you can shake a stick at by the end of it, clubs cheating with drugs and salary caps to get an advantage, the wrestle, 3 different CEO's who've failed to excite, more and more disgruntlement with the game on the field, the end of the biff and shoulder charges, players salaries sky rocketing, still no expansion, women's game on fire, International RL making a return, crowds stagnant, TV audiences dropping, couple of clubs dominating whilst some finally winning a premiership, Fox simucasting every game whilst Ch9 get staler, player misbehaviour on scales unheard of (or so we are led to believe) and despite it all Rugby League remains the best game in the world!

Lets see what the next decade brings us.

Pros:
- In terms of fairytales it was an incredible decade: Dragons, Souths, Cowboys, Cronulla, and very nearly Canberra. Nearly every GF was closely-fought, tense and exciting.
- The game finally got rid of News Ltd. and inaugurated an Independent Commission. Gallop was subsequently turfed.
- The game also finally began to earn what it was entitled to in terms of broadcasting rights (funny that) which led to an increased salary cap and a plugging of the drain of players to RU and the ESL.
- The advent of the Women's Premiership and the rise of the Women's game in general (particularly Origin).
- The increase in the freakish athleticism of the players both in the forwards (beasts like Taumalolo, Papalii, Haas, Fifita with motors like Phar Lap) and the backs (wingers performing acrobatics in the corners).
- Origin continued to deliver as a spectacle.
- The rise and rise of the International game, largely on the back of Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and PNG.
- An increased - and long overdue - focus on player welfare (banning of the shoulder charge, HIA [contentious, I know]).
- FINALLY some better stadiums: Melbourne, Parramatta and Townsville with the SFS, Homebush and Cronulla in the works.
- The delicious decline of Rugby Union in Australia.

Cons:
- A general stagnation in crowds and television ratings.
- Refereeing steadily sinking to the level of farcical as the decade progressed and, ironically, reaching rock-bottom for the 2019 GF.
- In spite of their demands to be "stakeholders in the game", players' off-field behaviour continued to be deplorable, feeding the wowser brigade and axe-grinders.
- A reactive, spineless, myopic, wasteful, navel-gazing administration continued to run the game (I thought we got rid of Gallop.)
- Channel 9 coverage and commentary actually got even worse (the 2009 version of myself would've thought that impossible).
