Fairly solid......
You can say that again... Leading point scorer, for most of year... Then gets picked in Australian squad... I'd say that's fairly solid..
Even if he did have lapses in defence , we never gave him much time at all . It seems to be big on D as St George footy , we are struggling in both D and scoring points so we turn attacking players away like Garrick and Dufty that can turn a game or us , and shaft them ..... It's like we are oozing with game breakers.........

We can't be that big on D.

Euan Aitken has been our starting centre for 5 years.

Should have worked it out by now must be asleep when they go over the games video. Mary "Euan see that when you and the winger slide in it creates an overlap". Euan "Sorry coach I'm asleep". Mary "ok when you wake up we will talk about change of plan we will slide out".
Euan "zzzzzzzzzzzz".
Mary "forget it".

Does the Board even read articles like this. Our clueless football staff namely Mary and Millward have been stuffing up for years but still remain employed. There is no accountability at SGI for the Board or management staff.

This lies squarely at the Feet of McGregor....Millward doesn't pick the Team...
Some on here put forward the idea that Millward and Mary work together on recruitment. Garrick moved on because he was not wanted by Mary or Millward. Hasler on the other hand could see the talent and value in Garrick. The rest is history.

Good Story...pity it is fiction.............Moved on to get an opportunity to play 1st grade because McGregor never picked him...FACT...

Same thing! A decent coach would have recognised his talent and made sure Millward sealed the deal.

At the time of their extensions both were playing rep football with Aitken being tauted as an Origin prospect. Many posters were calling for him to be extended. The wheels well and truly fell off the Aitken train soon thereafter, maybe believing in his own hype who knows.
However, with his declining form, the one constant, barring injury, was his continued selection in 1st grade. That falls at the feet of one person only. Absolutely nothing to do with his extension, as I said, at that time probably warranted, but team selection is the responsibility of one person only. Aitken, in particular, should have been playing reserve grade, if only to sharpen him up.

McGregor us the catalyst for most of our recruitement and retention woes.

100% correct....And if the rumor about Lomax leaving in J.A is correct, then I think I am just about done....The Damage done will take Years to undo.

Millward was specifically appointed to his current position - official reason being Mary could not coach and spare the time for recruitment/pathways/retention duties. Unofficially it was because of a backroom old boys deal.

Millward did extend Aitken and Lafai long term despite poor form the previous season and the fact that no one was chasing their signature. A short term extension with some performance KPI's relating to an option in favour of the Club would have been the way to go at the time.
