Qld Vs NSW opener is a shoot out for Australian opening spots.

NSW with the superior bowling attack if they play Hazlewood and Cummins though. Great opportunity for Renshaw and Burns to show they deserve it.

As if Renshaw needed another season of pressure, but Bryce Street has just made 345 for the Qld 2nd XI's. Hammering the door down.

Finch declared he wants to play test cricket - because of the Nugget factor...

Be interesting if he gets couple of big tons in Shield, and the likes of Warner/Bancroft/Harris don't do as well\

Finch not giving up on Test ambitions

The experienced Victorian is eyeing a red-hot start to the Shield season and a recall to Australia's Test side, taking inspiration from Matthew Wade

Starc needs to be playing Shield cricket, not the T-20 nonsense he's been selected in.
On a day where wickets fell like rain, he gets none from 17?

NSW now 3/14 Even Smith got a duck.

Lab did well in comparison with his 69.

Maybe his future is in white ball cricket only? He’s always been a better white ball bowler than red ball.

Maybe, but at his best he's a good test match bowler. Pulling him away from the Shield for a meaningless T-20 series seems silly when he needs all the red ball cricket he can get.

It’s build up for the T20 World Cup, though. That’s why we’re playing 6 T20i’s this summer.

Starc can be a good test match bowler, but I don’t think we lose much if he doesn’t play. Fast bowling is one spot we have genuine depth.

Phillipe amongst the runs for WA, this kid is some one to keep an eye on, everyone else failed.

All the Ashes players and hopefuls failed accept Loosechange, Warner not out so he may kick on

Starc the only real Bloos bowler not to pick up a wicket

Harris scored a ton.

Renshaw at least spent some time out there. Wasn’t an easy batting wicket, was surprised QLD decided to bat actually. Always seams early in the season up there.
Weather looks shit for the next few days from lunch time tomorrow. If I am understanding the points system properly, which I probably am not, the best chance to get anything out of this match would have been to post a big 1st innings total.
