Oh and on the Jello thing. I was in the rehearsal room with him for two days before the show. It is the Jello show when he is around.
I got a call a couple of days after the show to take him to the beach, couldn't do it but hey it cool to spend a few of days with him. The ultimate professional showman.
f**k n hell
I’d have probably thrown up from nerves.

That Mick Medew sounds like a pretty humble dude.
So close by so far sort of story.
He must be old now.
He looked 40 in 87.

Hahaha.
We'll go for a beer soon mate and I'll apologise now for destroying some myths....

both those bands were just a bit before my time.
I saw them at the arse end.
Actually I had a mate who’s brother supported the hit men at the Penshurst den.
I think that might of been why we went.
They were called the chesters
f**k they were loud.

I suppose this may be the thread to promote this
The Blind Bear is doing acoustic gigs every Thursday night.
I played there a few weeks ago and it's a cracker!! Even Newms was there!
My good mate Driza (Shark Island Brewing and Handsome Young Strangers) has one of those nights a month, He's putting on a punk/folk night. "Folk the Lot of Ya!"
Last week he had Mike Rivkees of Mickey Rickshaw (Boston), it was unreal.
I'll be back there soon doing my latin-country-blues-punk thing but if any of you Shire folk want a gig and drink some good piss, let me know.

The rutherfords
My first band played with them a few times.
The dude who hates masuak ( he was our lead guitarist) wife was good friends with them.
ha
John the bass player was a strange cat.
We went to the toucan tango in Newtown one night and he drank a schooner of this chilli hot soy sauce stuff.
Didn’t flinch.

The Rutherfords were the reason I was there. They were my best mates.
"John the bass player" died a couple of months ago, the day before my birthday.
He lived a his life, joined The Nomads, and lived large. Cancer got him really quick. I went up to the Goldy this year and spent some time with him before he went.
Had a memorial for him at Cronulla RSL the same day as we had Damos at Newport.
Rock and Roll eh.

The younger guitarist, Geoff, was actually the older cousin. He lives in France now. The singer, Andy, who was my best mate, has Parkinson's, so did his little brother, the drummer. Billy (the drummer) died a few years ago because of it.
It's a sad tale but we still are here eh.

Yeah but we keep keepin on eh.
We did a benefit at the Woolooware Golf Club a few years ago for Billy's family, it was a great night. Actually it was the night of your avatar! I got some Gurus stuff organised for raffle, and some Boy and Bear (my nephew plays bass). The Rutherfords got up and played some tunes, we had a cool time.

funny story about John

my mate and John both had the hots for the same chick... I’d say they both went there.
The one my mate married

Anyway she went to the US as a summer camp leader or some shit.

when she got home to the airport
John and my mate had both turned up to pick her up.

Haha
