Rumoured Targets 3

Toohey's News

- Knights not looking for a direct replacement for Gavet, feel they have enough middle forwards as is. Again deny any interest in Merrin.
- An outside back and edge backrower are the main targets but Ryan Matterson isn't on the radar. Kurt Capewell also dropped off with his asking price too high.
- Club is still confident Levi will find a new home before round 1.
- The entire coaching and support staff will be going away this week to plan out the season. O'Brien and defensive coach David Furner have already been working at Knights HQ with new attacking coach Willie Peters set to start this week.

Levi's having a decent 9s tournament so far (from what I've seen anyway, haven't watched the whole thing), so hopefully some clubs are paying attention

Seems odd to be in a hurry to get rid of someone going so well he creates interest from opposition teams.
Might we be better keeping him one year, see out his contract and make decision then, don’t want to see Watson filling in full time, due to injury, at 9 better at 14, even 1 or 6. Let Levi work for his place in firsts or play reserves or we might end up paying part of his contract to play for another team.

How many years can a club keep doing that?

Certainly wouldn't complain if the club threw a lot of money at David Fifita. Exactly what we're missing - a big, powerful, athletic second rower

oh yeh ....a heap of interest, its only been 6 months and so many opposition teams beating down Mr Levi's door he doesnt know who to choose.

This is where we need 3rd party deals. They allow a player like Fifita to fit in the cap. The difference between being Premiers or just making the 8.

Off contract end of this year I think...... Will be a massive bidding war for him. Hence why broncos are trying to get Boyd to retire or offload bird

You said he’s going well, his Dad doesn’t need to confirm that, you hoped that others were looking so he might get offers. If he goes, don’t make any difference to me I only hope we don’t end up paying some club to let him play, we are short in hooking department loosing two of our top three, possibly three, so what if Brailey is injured early. Long term what then. Put aside your bias and think of the team overall. Yes we can play Watson at 9 but what of 14 etc.

There is zero point in paying an overrated player like Levi stupid amounts of money just in case Brailey and Watson get injured. That's the kind of stupid shit Michael Hagan would have done.

If Brailey and Watson go down then we'll have to bring up whoever the reserve grade or 20s hooker is, or play Mann there. Pretty sure we've got Chris Randell still on the books too. No point keeping Levi around

But none you mention except Brailey are that good or experienced, let’s get rid of Levi and buy a hooker. Why do we have a large group of forwards covering positions, you need cover in all positions but especially spine, we have no one backing up Pearce, we have no one backing up 6, Lino, Watson or u20, we have no one backing up Brailey if you let Levi go and as for Ponga no one backing him up, Levi is better at 9 than Watson or Mann, if you use Watson at 1 or 6 you lose backup at 9 if you use Mann at any position you wonder what happened to Levi. Bottom line is you lose Brailey you want Levi over Watson, Mann, Randall or any upgrade from U20’s, logic. It’s all about what’s best for the team and results. Levi at his worst is our 2nd best hooker so another season under his current contract makes sense.

no I don't

At his best, maybe. At his worst, he's our 10th best hooker behind brailey, Watson, Mann, Randell, reserves hooker, 20's hooker, braileys dog, Glasby, and me.

Levi's problem is he's not a team player. He's stupid, selfish, and petulant...traits definitely not needed in the player who touches the ball more often than everyone else on the field

what's Levi supposed to be on ? 450K ? That's waaaaay too much to be paying someone as a back-up hooker.

If Brailey goes down with injury we have plenty of cover for him.

It was frustrating with Brown this year. Instead of promoting a player to first grade to fill a void he would constantly shuffle the entire team around and in the process weaken several positions.
