London marathon doubling as the real world champs in two hours. Looking forward to diamond league later this week as well.

Northern hemisphere summer season is about half over and the 400 hurdles is at an interesting stage. Only three runners this year have achieved the times that twelve beat last year. Four of the 12 were Americans, not including Kerron Clement, the reigning Olympic champion and bronze medal winner at the last world champs. Top two this year are metres ahead and will fight out both the diamond league and world champs finals. Third is an absolute lottery.

this is my 4000th post. two interesting events will happen overnight. Pan Pac marathon in Lima peru should see two men from different countries but both named Pacheco win gold and silver; and Sydney v Dalilah in a semi of the US champs over 400 hurdles. they will not only be 1 and 2 here, also the same in this final, the DL final, and then finally in the World Champs final. All that is left to play out is who wins which race.

Taking a big interest in distance running. A 21yo Ethiopian woman ran an amazing time for 15k on Sunday. Seems the gap between men and women in this sport is closing.

Marathon and half marathons worldwide are in chaos. Rotterdam is the latest to get postponed. Boston and London are late April.

Diamond league in the early morning. My radical prediction: Gidey over Hassan in the 5000 near the WR

15 women ran 5000 in sub 15 in London for only the second time in history worldwide. Previous was Oslo in 2019. That night, it was 8 Ethiopians and 6 Kenyans. This time, more of a spread of nationalities.

Leading up to the Olympics, marathon selection is at interesting stage for both women and men. Especially for Kenya and Ethiopia, who both could choose 50 athletes to head the field, but of course only get three each. London fields are announced soon and many of the contenders will compete there. Boston, Tokyo, and Rotterdam are all also in this northern spring window.

This month in marathon running is the last chance for Kenya and Ethiopia to see their Olympic hopefuls run either Boston or London. The best 3 go to the Olympics and will be the favourites in both men and women’s events
