So no evidence or what? Seems strange as that is what caused all the pain for those involved. I don’t know about you but I would notice a phone filming while having sex. Whole thing is weird really I guess wanted it sorted quick

One girl did notice and told them not to film. The other girl said his phone beeped and then he made out like he was texting but yeah Ive got no idea bout evidence tbh I’m just repeating what was reported the other day.

I would like to say because we have higher moral expectations for our jersey than other clubs. But Tetevano signing goes against that.

I think May deserves to be sacked having plead guilty. But IMO what he did is not as bad as what guys like Packer, Lodge, Wighton, Tetevano etc. have been found guilty of either.

But as @betcats said... another person could find what May did as worse and I can see why. The NRL took a step in the right direction with the no fault standown policy. But it looks pretty f**king laughable when you have guys found guilty of arguably more serious crimes running around, others having copped a slap on the wrist etc. for crimes and so on.

Barba got a lifetime ban for the same thing many recent or current players have been found guilty of. Which I think is a great stance to take... but the NRL deadset needs to get their shit together.

Make blanket rules for as many scenarios as they can.

Ie. Low range drink driving. X% fine and 5 game suspension.
Mid range drink driving . X% fine and 10 game suspension.

Do a similar scale for all things players have been found guilty of for the past 10 yearsor so. Tinker with it so the punishments seem fair across the different incidents. And have some crimes with zero tolerance and a life time ban. No exceptions if its a Cameron Smith or a Mitch Kenny. Same punishment fits all players. Make fines as percentages to make it fairer.

Like the judiciary there should be loading for repeat offenders.

If the NRL had a well thought out system that is strict but fair in place rather than simply reacting to the media we would save alot of face and questions regarding consistency across punishments. Things like why is Carney not allowed to play while Lodge and Packer are etc.

The no fault stand down policy IMO is about the best system we can hope for while guilt is to be determined. Its not perfect obviously. Especially if a player like Jack De Belin ends up being proven innocent and has missed ~2 seasons.

I think in scenarios where a contract expires or earning capacity has been reduced. The NRL should be required to compensate them for the lost earnings and keep them paid if the case goes on beyond their contract.

Ie. If JDB is innocent. He should be compensated what he would have earned playing for NSW and Australia, and compensated for whatever loss in value he took as a player on his next contract.

Yeah the real bad look for the nrl is banning barba and having a guy like Tetevano still playing. Makes no sense.

I'm starting to dribble.

I think if we snared him the W/T faithful would march on Panthers like in an episode from the simpsons. Rightly or wrongly many of the W.T folks believe he will return to them.

Buckle up folks buckle up. This could get testy. Very testy.

He’s probably my favourite non-Panther player.

it’s hard not to get a little excited! Even though it’s probably nonsense.

That's definitely a positive. No 5 year contracts and reasonably priced is a good place to start. Then get winning so players want to come here(can Ivan do it though?)

I think he can, he got the warriors to a grand final before leaving, got the panthers to one game away from a grand final, got a weak Tigers roster to beat the Storm twice and Roosters once last year, despite his team being one of the favourites for the wooden spoon in the preseason.

I was more worried about if he could he manage recruitment and retention, after Gould left. Especially after some of his decisions with his first go at it at the Tigers. But was willing to give him time to see how he went before judging him.

But he already seams to have learnt from his mistakes with recruitment at the Tigers, not rushing recruitment decisions to sign players, not paying overs to get players, not offering long term contracts. And re player retention, he made what would of been tough calls to release DWZ, Blake and RCG, junior Panthers that debuted at the club under him, to try and fix the issues with the salary cap and the disharmony amongst the playing group.

I even like the fact he didn’t let his ego get in the way of realising he needed an experienced assistant coach that could take over as the attack coach, and hired Barrett for that role. Who the players are all praising highly for the advice he is giving them.

I know all the Cleary haters will find reason to bag me for this post. But I genuinely feel like the club has made large inroads in moving forward after a bad season, and after a number of years of the roster continually weakening under Gould who seemed to be always releasing players and never properly replacing them.

IMO the problem came from spreading it... If any charges should be dropped it should be the other way. Hope atleast this way ends it

Cleary isn’t in charge of recruitment & retention, it’s a committee now. Suspect that shift is because they felt Gus had too much say. And possibly Cleary’s decisions at the Tigers.

And yet it was cleary who got api to not sign with the dogs with a phone call and meeting at his house not the committee.

We need to bring one half decent NRL quality centre that is a given.

But who is left? Walker stayed for under what we offered. The other guys we were rumoured to be after still aren’t moved on so leads me to think were bad deals.

The squad has improved. I can’t see Tamou getting $800k again so gives us cap space to fill that hole if someone comes available... Assuming one of the young guys don’t have a breakout year and fill that hole

If you search for Blade23’s posts, he mentions that the club has expressed interest in a couple of centres but pulled out when the price went to high eg Walker, Mitchell, Bird etc.

So they want to sign a centre, just aren’t willing to pay overs to get one. Which I think is a good thing, as there will be clubs needing to release players before the start of the season. And if a good buy doesn’t eventuate for 2020, they have enough to get by with and can focus on the right signing for 2020. And hopefully by then Naden and Crichton are killing it at centre and we don’t need to sign any!

That is how I see it too. Walker signs instead of taking unders then it is a different story
