Folau’s denial back into the NRL has nothing to do with his religion or faith, or even his opinion. It’s the fact that he takes part (and/or leads) very public acts of discrimination with inflammatory (at best) comments against a portion of humanity.

I have a simple question for you, Benny. If Christianity (or any other religion) is indeed clear on any particular topic (say, for example, abortion), is the believer meant to remain silent because someone may experience hurt feelings? Why does that person's hurt feelings trump the other person's religious freedom?

It's getting to the point where we may as well not talk to each other at all, simply to avoid offending people.

I don’t quite understand your first paragraph.

In answer to your second question, it would be nice if people made up their own minds instead of following the teachings of a 2000 year old text that holds little to no relevance in today’s society BUT that believe can say whatever they’d like. Hence why Folau didn’t get prosecuted.

However, free speech doesn’t allow removal of all consequences of comments, simply persecution. Folau wants to remain or become a highly-paid, high profile representative of an organisation that values equality and intends to appeal to the wider society, he can’t be shocked when that opportunity is taken away because he alienates part of that society and identifies them as evil. There are too many financial and societal impacts on those organisations if they are seen to be supporting those comments.

Now for my simple question - if Folau had included indigenous Australians and all women in his tweet, would you still think the NRL were wrong to deny him a spot? Would you want him back in the NRL? Would you want him at the Dragons?
