Hangon - wasn’t Hobart banned from hosting internationals once when this happened? There was a test vs Zimbabwe that was played at the SCG in October that was meant to be in Hobart but they moved it due to a Shield game at Bellerive being abandoned due to an unsafe wicket?

I bet the VCA won’t feel the same punishment as the TCA.

Thing is, for a lot of simple, casual observers of the game and not familiar with the background and intracacies of this situation, they'll be scratching their head and wondering what has led to such a calamity.... And the AFL machine, with tentacles in media all over the place, will ensure no mention is made of the link to drop in door nail-dead pitches we've had because of their shit game for the past decade... The Melbourne CRICKET Ground is a cricket ground no more. Pure and simple

MCG Curators Apply Light Nuclear Strike On Pitch To Try And Take A Bit Of Pizzazz Out Of It

The curators of the nation’s most overrated sporting venue have applied a low-yield nuclear strike against their own pitch this morning in an effort to make sure nobody is seriously hurt on Boxing Day.

While some in the industry would consider doing that quite an extreme measure, after play was abandoned during a Sheild game between Victoria and The West last due to the pitch being too dangerous, nothing is too extreme for the curators, they say.

It’s not uncommon for curators to light a pitch on fire in an effort to flatten things out. It’s also not out of the blue for a curator to hose one down with a firehose to make sure some cracks open up.

However, this is the first time in recorded history that a thermonuclear device has been used to deaden a pitch.

None of the MCG curators was available for comment at the time of print but needless to say the nation wishes them the best of luck.
