I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the test players pick up "slight niggles" from the SCG test and ruled out of this nuppty series

if ever there was an argument for rotation, this would be it

this series really is meaningless

Understand why Maxwell/Stoinis were dumped. Though we look a bit short on all-rounders.

Agar will have to play all 5 games. Unless man of the moment Labuschagne makes up the overs.

3 game series, all over in 6 days...

D'Arcy Short earns Australia call-up after Sean Abbott injury

D'Arcy Short has been called up for Australia's short ODI series in India from January 14-19 after Sean Abbott, the fast-bowling allrounder, was diagnosed with a "moderate side-strain", according to a Cricket Australia (CA) release.

Abbott picked up the injury during Saturday's Sydney derby at the SCG between Sydney Sixers, the team he represents, and Sydney Thunder. He impressed in that outing, picking up 2 for 28 in a high-scoring game that Sixers eventually won in the one-over eliminator.

"It is extremely unfortunate for Sean, who is very much a part of our white-ball squad plans leading into the ICC T20 World Cup and the World Cup," selection convener Trevor Hohns was quoted as saying by CA.

"D'Arcy offers the squad another spinning all-rounder option along with Ashton Agar, which, along with the four world-class fast bowlers and Adam Zampa, balances the squad out nicely. His proven record and ability to bat anywhere in the order will also be a great asset to the squad."

Abbott, whose only other ODI appearance came in 2014, is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks.

Should give the disabled national team a go.

Series like these does nothing to promote good cricket.

Surprised they didn't pick the great MMarsh as Abbots replacement. Still might be there if Hazlewood isnt right
