No BJ at the lunch as he was at the farm.
Legend Dragon forward attended and offered the following comments.
He likes Mary and felt he was unlucky with the Jack and Widdop situation last season.
Widdop should have been released immediately when he said he wanted to return to the UK.
Jack should not have been allowed to train with the team.
Jack has a very strong case but the media reporting hasn't helped his case.
Never impressed with Widdop, sideways running and didn't like getting tackled and kicked on many occasions when he should have taken the line on.
Thinks Lomax hasn't offered much at all so far.
Centres no good, EA really dumb and Lafai poor.
7 and 6 fine but need the forwards to dominate.
Vaughan runs sideways and not impressed with him, Graham should have been released this coming season but one of Mary's favourites.
Kerr better than Timm and Kerr should have been given more game time last year.
Should have kept Luc and not sign Merrin.
McInnes very good but needs to run more.
Sims should have been rested last season to get his injuries right.
Not impressed with Frizzells performances for the Dragons.
Said Doust did a very good job as CEO.
BJ wants to go back to the farm and young family.
Flanno offering new ideas to the team.
That's about it.
I won't revel his name.
Great day.
CC
Interesting analysis but some of it a bit bewildering has he had a brain scan?
Likes Mary FFS as a bloke or as a coach?
Widdop carried us in attack and without him last year we would have spooned.
De Belin agree.
Lomax hasn't had enough chances to show very much so too harsh IMO.
Centres agree especially re Aitken.
Halves disagree as they don't challenge the opposition nearly enough and Hunt has played behind then when the dominate and didn't do much.
Vaughan is our best forward other than Cam.
Kerr should have had more game time but better than Timm is subjective as no comparison available as Timm had no NRL game time.
Graham agree
Merrin V Luc agree
Sims agree
Frizzell 50/50 with him on that.
Doust FMD how could he think that?
IMO Vaughan, Frizz, Mc Innes IMO all suffer due to coach's tactics of which he made no mention but says he likes Mary.

Thanks CC. I agree with all the coments except liking Mary as a coach.

The ‘legend’ reflects to a large degree what has been fairly obvious to the average thinking punter with decent eyesight.

We except of course the gaggle of increasingly paranoid Maryites:
Gould, Daley, the BOD, WIN, Foxsports & the Murdoch press.

But Mary’s Empire of the Ordinary is leaking at the edges with daily counter revelations to the ‘chookfeeding’ that the Club indulges in

.... as momentum surely builds for the execution - or preferably demise by a thousand cuts -
(thanks Flanno, we’ll forget the nags if you pull this one off)

...Quid pro quo if you like -

for the suffering that the hitherto most loyal fan base in the NRL has had to endure.

There’ll be a chapter in Waterboy’s memoir (ghost written of course! Crawley?) titled:
‘How to Destroy A Fanbase Singlehandedly’)

So Turnstile & Waterboy are joined in IQ as well as the hip.

LOL - no wonder Lovechild#2 can’t work out defence & think on his feet or know when or how to pass FFS.
Just head-down-dumbass-straight-line-blind-tunnelvision-brainless-muscle stuff.

Used to love Turnstile’s bewildered looking back at his tryline -

hands-on-hip-wondering-what-the-fu*k’s-just-happened

after yet another attack found the
Laitkens lost in space (pardon the pun)

I knew the BJ family from my time in Dubbo - & he was never the sharpest tool in the shed - nor was Doust at Sydney Tech High

CEO’s sadly MIA & asleep at the wheel - remembered for the inexcusable & disastrous extension of a Waterboy & loss of the coach with multiple premiership flags FFS

Some legacy to ponder fellas

The sad decade

And BTW the ‘liking’ of The Loser doesn’t win us a premiership - merely forestalls the changes necessary for us to win one.

We know why Mary likes Graham. He does the talking and getting up players for him because he likes to be too much of a mate to his senior players.
I agree with all that except
The Mary excuse wagon. It is ingrained in our club culture ATM.
Lomax has not been given much opportunity in his best position.
Vaughan..yeh..na..bit harsh. Did have a better year in 18 but the rest of them were the same
Frizz...as above but needs coaching and team work to utilise his strengths running into holes out wide.......Maryitis
Luc...time will tell I am not that convinced but he wanted out from Mary too...dont blame him..Maryitis
Geez @Como Connection you must of bombarded the questions
Flanno.....that was a no brainer..until Maryitis strikes...spreads faster than the Coronavirus

Frizell hopes to ink new Dragons deal before season kick-off

Kangaroos forward Tyson Frizell hopes to finalise his future with St George Illawarra before the start of the season.

Frizell, who is in the final year of his contract with the Dragons, said he wanted to continue playing for his junior club and confirmed negotiations were underway for a new deal.

"I have been in negotiations and hopefully I can have that sorted out sometime soon," Frizell said. "I am able to talk to other clubs at the moment but hopefully it is here.

"I'd like to do it before the season starts but these things do take time as well so I understand that from the club's point of view. The sooner I can get it out of the way the better it is for myself and for the club as well."

The 28-year-old second-rower said he was fully fit after a horror run with injuries in 2019, which began when Frizell suffered a ruptured testicle during the opening-round match in Townsville, and he has put his hand up to play in the NRL Nines at Perth's Optus Stadium.

Five key match-ups of the Dragons' 2020 draw

The Dragons have been training hard under the direction of new strength and conditioning coach Adrian Jimenez, and players welcomed the opportunity to get away from WIN Stadium for two days on the club's South Coast bushfire relief tour.

With former NSW Origin forward Trent Merrin returning and Issac Luke, Brayden Williame and Tyrell Fuimaono joining the club, the Dragons have greater depth but are still on the lookout for an experienced winger.

"It is good to have Mez back, we all know that he loves the club and he is a big part of the club," Frizell said of Merrin.

"He is looking forward to putting the jersey on again, and getting back to playing the footy he knows he can play.

"Issac, Bradyen and Tyrell are quality players so it is good to have those guys in the squad. They will all be pushing for a spot in the top 17.

"There's still a couple of weeks of pre-season left but we are doing everything right at this point in time and training really hard. There has been a bit of change with the way training has been going and we are all looking forward to some games

"I want to play at the Nines, it's something different and it will be enjoyable to go to Perth. That is our first game of the year so I am looking forward to that."

Frizell said the visit to the South Coast had been an "eye-opener" for the players and they had hoped to provide a distraction from the constant threat of bushfires for people in the region, as well as provide an economic stimulus.

Illawarra codes unite for bushfire relief golf day

Illawarra codes unite for bushfire relief golf day

"The whole way down the coast it was just black and you can't understand how tough it would have been for the people trying to defend their houses," Frizell said.

"I don't know how they did it, the amount of courage it would have taken to stay back and look after their houses. Obviously the fire fighters had to go through that too and it is pretty amazing to see some of the houses that are still standing with black trees around them.

"I guess in Sydney you get the smell of bushfires but you are not at risk so it's not until you drive through that road [the Princes Highway] on the way down and see the devastation that you realise what some people have gone through.

"I think it would be very traumatic for any family to go through it and you don't know when it is going to happen so we a we are trying to be that distraction that they need and take their minds off the tough times they have gone through."

Why won't you reveal his name? For me a mixed bag but the Mary comment and the Doust comment tells me he is a member of the old boys club.
