Yes....More people means more building means more work.
Also mean rich people houses become worth more and so do their investment properties. Especially when they purposely bring in more people then they have places for them to live. Supply and demand.
Also helps slow down wage growth.

Rich get richer.

Economic growth is nice if you're not watching others race ahead of you.

I'd dont know the percentages but my guess is the majority of people being bought in have little skills. Yes they bring in nurses and doctors and have for a while but half the under drivers I meet are engineers who can't get jobs in Sydney cause companies dont value their qualifications and standard from Bangladesh/India.

Well considering that we hold the record of 27 consecutive years of economic growth, that would be nobody.

It's easier when your a growing nation compared to places like Europe.
But all we are doing is pushing a big problem further down the track and the longer we keep growing our population the bigger the hit will be when things do go pear shaped.

So we get more people in order to build so that we can bring even more people in? Self replicating supply and demand, awesome!

Exactly what is happening mate.
We import workers to fill holes that Australians don’t want to do for peanuts but are also unwilling to pay others more than peanuts to do. Slowing wage growth is also supply and demand.
Richy Rich paying imports peanuts to build his investment properties for further imports on peanuts would mean his income would just be the peanuts he paid the original imports. Richy Rich would have to be a peanut to do that

The unskilled migrants slow wage growth. The skilled migrants push housing prices up.

What an ignorant comment. Plenty of Australians have watched others race ahead of them over the past 27 years.
Ok I am talking about countries and their respective economies but you are talking about comparing cohorts within your community ?

What problem are we in denial about ?

That's a very black and white attitude. Ignoring the benefits of skilled migration and focussing on the cost of housing is very closed minded. Without such migration coupled with zero population growth we would be living in a very different country were job security is poor, consumer confidence is low and the well being of the general community is poor.

There will always be losers in this game of life (I'm starting to sound like @hindy111 ) but I assure you there are less losers in a economy which uses skilled migration as a tool for economic growth than there is in a stagnant low or negative growth economy.

The Nationals?

Couldn't organise a root in a brothel with a thousand bucks in one hand - and a reference from the Queen in the other.
Most useless mob of pricks running around. The Nats pretend to represent country people, all they do is kill off little communities by sending in the fun police to over supervise events that Country life relies upon....Mick McCormack could not lead a horse to water.....The model for the Easter Island Statues...

A thousand bucks for a root, what do you get for that? The unions are driving up prices everywhere.
