As if the Broncos don't do enough by carrying all other clubs on its mighty shoulders, now there's this. Get your champagne out, losers:

BREAKING: Broncos prop Matt Lodge hit by suspected season-ending ACL injury

The Broncos have suffered a huge blow ahead of the 2020 season with Matt Lodge suffering a suspected ACL tear.

The Courier Mail are reporting that the 24-year-old went down at training on Tuesday and was immediately sent for scans with the results due in this afternoon.

If the scans confirm he has indeed torn his ACL, then the loss of Lodge will be a huge setback for coach Anthony Seibold’s plans.

Lodge had been in the discussion to play representative football for NSW in 2019 and was one of Brisbane’s better performers in an underwhelming season.

And given that it would require surgery, Lodge could miss the majority if not all of the 2020 season.

If it is confirmed that Lodge has injured his ACL, he will be the fourth player to have suffered the same injury during the pre-season after Roosters’ Billy Smith, Titans captain Ryan James and Warriors prop Bunty Afoa.

Usually when these injuries happen you get a lot of sympathy from rugby league fans...

… This one will be different.

The Bronco's backs & halves still look a bit meh, but I was starting to think if Seibold could get his forwards to understand the tackling is more important than the running they could be a hard team to beat. Just lost their "leader"...

Probably not looking good for Bronco's fans this year.
