Glebe-Burwood defeated Blacktown Workers 44-0 in this afternoon’s Challenge Cup clash at Thirlmere. I’m told the Blacktown line-up was mostly Shield players. Glebe-Burwood side was about 50-50 Massey/Shield.

A hard fought win by Asquith today. A heavy track and wet conditions provided a grinding match.

Thirlmere scored first through winger Allan Shipley. Former NRL player Jake Mullaney converted from the sideline.

Asquith hit back in the 2nd quarter with Jackson Williams powering across close to the sticks. Hayden McWilliam pushed the conversion attempt wide.

It took a clever kick to seal the deal for Asquith with Tom Menzies pouncing on a kick with two minutes left to play.

Wenty 18 (H Hroti, D Petralia, B Henry tries, H Rawalui 2, Henry goals) bt Hills 12 (J Parker, D Harrison tries, J Lewis 2 goals).

Not a bad game. It looked like it might be a shut out when Wenty led 18-0 but when Beau Henry was put in the bin right on 3/4 time, Hills used their numerical strength to put on 2 nice tries in the 10 minutes. A few minutes from the end Baumann put a support under the posts but he could not ground the ball so Wenty qualify for the semis. I understand Heath L'estrange is playing again this season and he will make a huge difference to the Hills side.

Wenty
1 Cameron Hall 25 Eto Nabuli 3 Chris Tupou 4 Josh Minhinnick 5 Nick Walker 15 Henry Rawalui 7 Tom Bartley 8 Adam Spicer 24 Daniel Petralia 10 Piki Rogers 11 Charles Shepherd 12 Haimona Hroti 13 Jordan Latham 9 Ryan Pritchard 16 Dane Vette Welsh 20 Nico Apelu 18 Jacob Winterstein 22 Rhys Armstrong 14 Liam Mulvihill 6 Beau Henry

Hills
15 Masi Fidow 2 Chris McCoy 3 Zac Chong Nee 4 Matt White 1 Smith 13 Nick Holliday 22 Josh Lewis 18 Tim Robinson 9 Mitch Hyde 10 Yileen Gordan 19 Dave Baumann 17 Jake Brennan 18 Daniel Harrison 7 Joel Bradford 8 Bruce Ward 24 Kilifi Tia Kilifi 11 Pat Eni 20 Jessie Parker 6 Will Epery 20 Corey Kurnoth

Doesn't bide well for Blacktown considering BG's shield and fringe RM are not much chop from last year

At St Marys

CC Mounties 22 Penrith 6
RMC Mounties 32 St Marys 10
SS St Marys 48 Moorebank 4

St Marys were outclassed in the RMC but they has virtually no one except Sam McKendry, Henry Seumanu, Geoff Daniela and Dylan Fuad. The addition of Jake Toby, Maliko Falino, Kurt Falls, Antonio Pelesasa, John Faiumu, Tom Skinner, Meni Luke, Tavena Koroisau and Jarrod Brackenhofer from the CC trial and the Tsikrikis brothers and Pat Hollis from the NRL trial, will mean they will be very competitive.

Mounties were close to their best combination.

The Fiji Silktails will step up preparations next week when they play PNG Digicel cup grand finalists Kroton Hela Wigmen as a curtain raiser to the 2020 Melanesian Cup between the Fiji Vodaphone premiers, Ravoravo Rabbitohs and Digicel premiers, Lae Snax Tigers. The Rabbitohs will include their 5 Silktails reps while Lae will not have their 4 PNG Hunter reps.

Lae are the current Cup holders after wins against Nadi Aviators by 38-22 in 2018 and 40-4 in 2017.

Thirlmere would be pretty competitive in the RMC,that wasn’t there full squad either.Missing the likes of Eddie Paea,Andy Fiagtusa,Sione Tovo & Dane Coskerie,I believe Veiru Mapasone has also signed there.

That is Glebes RMC squad,80% of it at least.
Blacktown had two RMC squad members playing,Kenny Soumpholphakdy and Moses Faeamani.

Anyone know how Pat Hollis went in the NRL trial?

I would be surprised if more then 3 or 4 of the Asquith team out yesterday make their Round one line up. They had 8 of their own playing with Norths yesterday, plus you would expect a bunch of Norths signed players on top of those in Round 1.

That is Glebes RMC squad,80% of it at least.

Glebe we’re missing the following players, most of whom will either be in the squad for round 1, or would be if they weren’t injured:

Lachlan Stein
Isaac Rabuatoka
Jackson Garlick
Sione Afemui
Malakai Houma
Izaac Thompson
Eddie Falua
Brandon Luamanu
Brock Illett
TJ Uele
