Wagner set to return

Who to leave out? the new kid who did real well?

Neil Wagner is almost certain to be back in New Zealand's bowling attack for the second Test against India, which begins in Christchurch on Saturday. Wagner missed the first Test in Wellington on paternity leave, but he will return to the squad on Wednesday, replacing Matt Henry.

The debut performance of Kyle Jamieson, who stood in for Wagner in Wellington and shone with both ball and bat, has left New Zealand in a bit of a dilemma over who to play and who to leave out in Christchurch, but coach Gary Stead indicated Wagner would feature.

shame they didn't have this problem (depth) against us, would have made for a more interesting series

Patel is a fine spinner (should have been in Australia) - but he bowled 6 or so overs? Might as well pick Santner

Play 5 pace bowlers, good thing is Jamieson is very different

Right decision not to play a spinner

And tbh a big part of the spinners being exposed overseas (Aust, note the other successes) is we simply didn’t take a decent spinner to Aust... Patel is that guy

Wagner will be the spinner here in a sense... 5th guy used and much more important as the wicket ages

95/3 India no reviews lefts NZ 1... umpires 3-0 that’s what happens when the Poms are out there rather than Dar and Fattie Erasmus
