It was funny when he was on NRL360 when he was preaching everybody needs to take a paycut and is now acting like some sort of martyr. Dude, you've earned several hundred thousand dollars a year the past 20 years. Of course a paycut is no big deal to you.

Yeah, I thought his comment about being 'one of the biggest costs' was downright arrogant.

Exactly. That tells you everything you need to know about Greenberg and the clubs. . He needed to go years ago. In fact he should not have gotten the gig in the first place.

And look at this, how channel 9 wants to give the clubs more say in the running of the game. What a freakin joke.

If Ten have any brains they would have already been on the phone to the NRL offering to take over from Nine.

Richo is Richo's biggest fan. But he's a bloody good administrator and not a yes man, which is what the game needs.

There would be no junior rugby league under his Platinum League vision as no NRL club would bother wasting their money.

LC’s exist to fund jnr rl (Lol) the move away from self interested nrl clubs to a legit two conference second division and a more sustainable jnr development model for Nsw was a good idea. Yeh clubs and state league self interest scuppered it, such is RL.

when you look at what was in the blueprint a lot of it has been implemented to the benefit of the game

The funding would just come from a different place.
People who play rugby league in Penrith would still be most likely to go to Penrith as the first choice, and Penriths talent scouts would be most likely to look at local players. All without having to spend their own money on it.

Some of Richo’s blueprint that has been enacted, many people don’t actually seem to be aware of what was in the report he developed!

things we got
Less 5 day turn arounds
Nzrl annual grant
Nrl nines
Scrap national U20’s comp for a state based U20’s
More focus on a set international calendar
36 man squad with 6 rookies

Things we didn’t get
22 rounds
Legit two conference national/international second division (platinum league)
Stand alone origins
Nsw jnr development to be split into eleven regions with less reliant on NRL club/LC funding
Global nines circuit
Restricting players from making nrl debut till 19

I’d love to see the full report and see what else was in there that we never got to hear about!

Can anyone explain to me why this situation has gone from the survival of the NRL, to the revival of the NRL in just 5 short days?

Is this one big bit of spin to keep our sport in the editorial headlines, and have ppl continually watching that agonisingly slow and drab footy show on Fox in the mornings to appease their sponsors?

That reminds me,does anyone think it is pointless keeping the Kayo subscription going at $25 p/m just for the endless replays? nah/yea...

A paycut is a paycut. Who knows if it was planned. It looks good in the eyes of the public. He has staked his ground.

Agreed with the OP. He is shaping for the top job...and so is Cam Smith (His time will come).
