The player I want is Campbell Graham, great hands, fast tall and athletic and only 20. Hopefully we get Bennett and he brings with him Graham. A backline of a more developed bunch of;
1.Ramsey
2.Graham
3.Wiliame
4. Lomax
5.Saab
Looks pretty good, I would love to see Lomax used how Freddy used Tommy T in Origin in a roaming role in attack.
none of this will happen until we get rid of mary

Without a doubt, if I'm to be honest though with everything that's going on I would rather one more year of Mary than our club goes under.
Mary's retention would never positively influence the success of our Club. I'm sure it would be a negative for sure. What we need is for the NRL to agree to shorten Flanagan's suspension so that we can replace Mary with a proper first-grade coach. If this cannot happen then the alternative solution should be the appointment of Sheppard as interim head coach with Flanagan as his assistant.

The Board would simply allocate extra funds to the SGI budget in order to cover the costs of the new coach's salary package as Mary's salary for 2020/2021 is already within their budget. Both owners St George Leagues Club and WIN Corp could easily afford this.

NRL Clubs will have to go back to the days of encouraging capacity gate attendance, merchandise sales and larger sponsorship deals to fund their football operations.

Mary's sacking would only enhance SGI's fortunes with perceptions of a more professional coach being in charge. Player retention and recruitment may also receive a boost.

At least now some league websites are finally reporting on McIdiots poor performance. I hope our Board reads some of these, they seem to still ave their heads up their arse
I am sure that the Board has seen a lot of the websites and is fully aware of McIdiots poor performance. They choose to ignore what has been written because they were the ones who agreed to continue with his services and they do not want to lose face. That plus he is mates with them all.
As I said on another thread, they only gave Price a year and a bit (yes I know, he was more dire that McGregor but not by much) and he got the bullet. Price just did not have the mates on the Board and if he did, who knows, he could still be our coach today. Hahaha!

I am sure that the members on the Board keep on saying, lets see how he goes this week, then, lets see how he goes this week and so on. They keep doing this without realising what they are there for.

The Board can’t be that stupid to see where our club finds itself, YES they are that stupid.

The collective wisdom seems to be that not only will we go back to the funding model you outline but also the cost reduced, stripped back staffing formula of yesteryear. Assistant and specialist coaches (including wrestling coaches -yay), consultants, stats and IT guys, the so-called High performance units etc will go by the way and the Head Coach will be like the one man band- so you better have a good one.

Don't know much about Sheppard - Flanagan is the only proven performer for mine so I would be banging down the doors of Greenberg and Vlandys offices to get his ban reduced so he can start up as a Head Coach by June 1 this year. Our crowds are dismal and Mary will lead the club to oblivion if he continues.

I honestly doubt they care. Many matters are delegated to the CEO and subject to fitting into an approved budget. Only matters that require spending outside of the limits of the budget or that the CEO brings to the Board for whatever reason would likely be considered by the Board.

I agree with you completely and have been saying similar for a while now.

Likewise said by me in other threads!

This thread was started by Frank Facer on 23 June 2019. Little did Frank know what was going to occur in 2020 with this pandemic and how in effect it will influence the future looking team with the forecasted reduction in cash to pay players and possibly some clubs going by the wayside.

Speculating on the future is like trying to work out what numbers will come up in the next powerball draw. It is bloody hard as we all know it but it is fun to have a go.

Who knows what off field rules will apply when the game resumes (salary cap, signing date for players , club admin budgets for instance) but given the large number of St G players off contract at the end of 2020 season the 2021 playing group will potentially be totally changed.
It is therefore imperative to piss off Mc Incompetent ASAP in order to give the Club its best chance of attracting some top line players. Pay him out for 2021 and have Shepherd and Flanno combo. Might even convince Tyson to change his mind (if rules allow ). I would think if Tyson’s Newcastle contract is reduced substantially it could be grounds to void it.

Frank Facer then is really... Nostradamus. I knew it :D
@Frank Facer. What day will Mary be sacked so I can diarise it and organise the bubbly? ;)

I would start looking at 2021 and 2022.

David Fifita is off contract at the end of this year. He would be my number 1 target. I say think big and sign the best. He would be the best signing we have made since I have been supporting us for the last 40 years.

Addo Carr will leaving Melbourne at the end of the year. We are apparently in the race to sign him. He would be a great signing.

We are also in the market for Suli. He would be a very good signing, as long as he is committed and disciplined. I think Flanno would be good for him.

Flegler isn't off contract until the end of 2021, but I would make him a big target. Brisbane may have to let go of either Lodge or Flegger, as they will both want a starting spot. Lodge is good enough to push for a NSW jersey this year or next. He could be another target.

Stephen Crichton is another who isn't off contract until the end of 2021, but from the little I have seen of him, he looks great. Fullback looks to be his best spot, but he would also make a great centre or winger. He is another I would target. I would rather we signed Crichton than Suli, but Crichton isn't off contract until the end of next year and I doubt Penrith will let him go. I think he will be Penrith's fullback before the year is out, as long as they get back on the field.

I would be moving Hunt to hooker and letting McInnes go. Hunt would provide us with more flair, attack and X factor from dummy half. He is good enough to play for Qld at hooker, so he would be good enough to play their for us.

I would be playing Norman halfback and giving him control of the team. If he does't perform then Clune would be in line to take his spot.

Flanno will probably be our next coach and he will probably want to bring Kyle to us. I don't mind that idea.

To sign the above players, I would be letting go of
Aitken
Lafai
Pereira
Dufty
McInnes
Graham
Frizzell
Lawrie
K Sims

So for 2022, I would be looking/hoping for something like

1 Ramsey/Crichton
2 Addo Carr
3 Lomax
4 Suli/Crichton/Feagai
5 Crichton/Feagai
6 Flanno
7 Norman/Clune/Sullivan
13 DeBelin D Fifita
12 D Fifita/Fuimaono
11 T Sims
10 Vaughan
9 Hunt
8 Flegler/Lodge

I obviously haven't done the maths regarding salary cap and signing all of the above is virtually impossible. We would also need some more good reserve forwards.

Cam Murray would be great, but I don't think he will be leaving Souths and will be their next captain. I think his best position is lock.
