They've brought "the workers" down to $750/week, Govt will be paying. They've brought the "non workers" up to $550, or $600, per week, Govt will be paying.
There is the infamous "curve" they've been talking about....
I respect your opinion, I do think you may be over thinking this one a little, more power to you I suppose.

And I dont mean anything by the "non workers" quotation, it was just to show a point. I feel for everyone who has been put under enormous pressure in this situation.

I think you’re making too much out of this decision being a “Socialist” one by a Coalition Government. We are in unprecedented times. And Governments have to make unprecedented decisions. This decision is one to preserve businesses and halt unemployment sky rocketing. It’s also about keeping as much continuity as possible. It’s also about keeping mental well being amongst the population as high as possible and to create more positivity in the nation.

It’s a truly gutsy move by this Government as it tops similar moves in New Zealand & England where they are only doing something for 2 to 3 months. This is for 6 months which shows this Government is in it for the long haul and looking to keep stability in the nation that everyone can now make decisions on the back of with more confidence. The stock market has responded to the decision in a great way, the Aussie Dollar is going in an upward trajectory and the media outlets are championing the decision. Worker and business owners are championing the decision.

It’s been a fine balance in keeping the virus under control and not totally destroying the economy that would send us to a depression. I fear some Countries have gone a long way to totally destroying their economies for which they will find recovery extremely hard. Especially ones that were already badly run and already in extreme debt. If anything this Government has shown how flexible it can be with policy and it’s possible to back business and back workers and make economic sense! But trust me this decision is about preserving business as it’s core objective because without business an economy has nothing, zero, zilch! If the core objective was just to look after the worker that would be totally socialist and not sustainable and economic suicide.

And yet did you not read this???

That's fair enough but I thought, and I could be very wrong here as would everyone I've spoken to, that you wouldn't be working you would be at home in isolation,.. thus when things start to pick up again the company has it's employees back on deck straight away. All about keeping the economy "stimulated" and will hit the ground running.
Like I said, i could be wrong, but this is mine and others take on it.
No menial tasks except the ones given to you by your missus or life partner....

But I digress, would you be supporting this decision if Labour was in charge and made it?
Another simple yes or no will do.

Edit: and the Socialist aspect is me taking the piss. I don't give a shit about the lefty, righty bullshit.

Thank you, and I believe you.
That is what I've been trying to see.
Who can actually see what's best for us, no matter their political alignment.
I think most of us are pretty much on the same page in regards to that.

Like most I have travelled to quite a few Countries.

Enjoyed my holidays greatly.

But always happy to come home.

It’s a special country and I want it to be preserved that way forever.

I want great decisions made by whoever is in Government that keeps and improves the standard we are accustomed to.

A lot of people complain about our health system. If that discussion has come up around me I tell them hell it’s not perfect but compared to other Countries believe me if you get sick you want it to be in Australia and with our health system.

I’d support either party that had to go through this shit.
I agree but the liberals where not kind when labour where handing out their stimulus package, actually their moto was that labour are putting us further into debt, funny debt is ok now....

I will also say that a Government that has just had to deal with the drought crisis, extreme bush fire season and now the Corona Virus virtually back to back to back it hasn’t been perfect in dealing with it all but overall it’s done a bloody good job.

It’s been hell for this population but this last 18 months would have been bloody hell to be in Government dealing with it. Yes that’s why they’re paid the big tax payer dollars but when you look at the human side of things it would be extremely draining. So many issues to deal with, so many heart breaking stories to take in, constant media scrutiny and endless hours of consultation and discussion. It’s been relentless.

3 eeeks ago I was telling all and sundry that it was the people coming home/in from the U.S. that is our problem, no one was listening. At that time they were 3 times the amount of the next, Iran, with where it was coming from. Those stats mysteriously disappeared.
I explained about the US health system how it only services those that pay, and how their cases are skewed because all those that couldn't afford a test, it is $1000 US a go. I told all my US friends and my best mate who is now stuck there that is rampant and you don't know.
It's all come out in the wash this week.
They are getting trampled.
Our health system is top of the class.

Not true.

They agreed about the stimulus but not the policy or the implementation.

Most could see the waste and stupidity in so many projects.

It could’ve been executed so much better.

Yeah well people weren’t dropping dead from a pandemic then.
Albo is still putting the boot in now though.

I was in Orlando and Miami last Xmas.

The USA health system and social welfare system for a Country like the USA is hopeless.

But hopeless doesn’t describe it properly. It really is horrendous to the demographic of the population that don’t have great paying jobs.

I got into discussions with lots of Uber drivers and they’d often bring that subject up. It’s a major sore point with the people there and they’re curious about other Countries systems. When I tell them our system some know about it and say yes they are very envious. Others that don’t know about our system I am not joking that they’re jaw drops and they are totally shocked.

Like I said it’s not a perfect system but to compared to other Countries believe me we are in the Penthouse compared to what they have.

Exactly the same as when I was last there back in 2004. They could not believe that we had this system. Even one mate in Dallas went as far as saying that we are a Socialist country because of it!! I did have to add that in for our previous banter haha.

Can you link me to that please mate. A lot of my mates are actually good friends with him, and I've met him and he is an ok guy. BUT i don't shy away from telling them when he is out of line.

I dunno it was on the morning news the other day.
He looked like a wanker.
Bagged out keeping schools open.
Even though it was explained so even the dumbest f**ker can understand the reasoning.
