The tigers must be shitting themselves thinking about BJ being live on Fox League tonight.
The rest of the players in the league should as well. Having some brain dead meat head like him talk about players thoughts and concerns makes them all look bad

Just listen to him and heads up to him to go public and confront his bosses on the way they act. Calling him a brain dead meat head is such a dipshit thing to say.Your opinion may have formed on how he plays on the field, but the points he made definitely affects him personally.

That still doesnt equate to a 75% pay cut for the year or do you mean they are getting 75% of their pay ie a 25% cut, in which case the question still stands, why do Fox keep saying players are taking a 75% pay cut? And why are players whinging at Greenberg taking a 25% pay cut if that is the same as they are taking?

media are misrepresenting the facts.... surprise surprise! The players have just recently agreed to a 45% decrease in wages a couple days ago. So from now to October they will receive approx 55% of there contracted money. Now the media/players have a issue that the nrl executive/commission have only accepted a 25% decrease in wages up to October. When you take the past 5 months wages into account which all nrl staff/players have already been paid it essentially works out to be a yearly loss to players of approx 25%. The nrl executives though are only taking a 25% loss on there remaining wages so works out to be approx 15% loss.

what hasn’t been taken into account is that 75% of nrls staff have been stood down. Either way the media are trying to make the nrl hierarchy look money hungry.

Take Cameron Smith for example. If he is on $1.2 mil a year that works out to be $100k per month. He has already been paid for 5 months
$500k. If he gets 55% of his wage for the next 7 months that is $385k instead of $700k. That means $885k total for the year. Which is 73.75%.

The people who he is complaining about for only taking a 25% pay cut are working harder than ever . So yeah, I think its a pretty apt description.

Could you imagine any other business being ok with the workers demanding the company shows them the books and demands to know what the management have been spending money on, especially after just giving them a 30% pay rise a year ago?
Then slating them for only paying them 55% of wages whilst nearly every other business around them has stood down staff on no pay? f**king over privileged Prima donnas.

go try it with your ceo tomorrow and tell him he is getting paid too much and see how it goes!

So let’s look at the logic here...somehow it’s expected that the CEO, who literally will have to work his arse off over the coming months to even keep the game alive, should take the same cut as the players, who will literally be sitting on their arses for the next few months...that seems fair :persevere:.

Should he take a cut; for sure. Should it be the same % as the players? You be the judge...

The spirit of entitlement is alive and kicking...

Not comparable. In the slightest. For so many reasons.

I've always said the player's wages and cap were extreme overs and that they could not be sustained in this country (corona virus has now brought that forward a few years) but when the management at the company has displayed such incompetence and mismanagement of funds which has contributed to their current predicament ... then yes... stick it up them.

It is the clubs and I would say probably the coaches (the influential ones whom the lesser ones need to try keep up with) that have mismanaged the funds.

everyone was screaming for more money to grassroots, they got it. Everyone was screaming for more money to their clubs so they stayed alive, they got it. Everyone was screaming for players not to be lost to union and England, they got it. Well guess what, we got what we wanted, bit late to be crying about spent money now we actually need the game to have some cash reserves!

afl have had a lot more money, built a decent asset base, have clubs making a lot more money, yet have had to borrow $600mill. Maybe were in the same boat as every other sport?

Read or watch Vic media. The AFL is in same boat as NRL with finger pointing and blame game. They're turning on clubs - Nth Melbourne being highlighted to relocate again. Fmd poor ol' Eddie McGuire begging members not to get refunds. Shouldn't count people who buy a t-shirt and get a complimentary ticket to a game as a member then.

There are too many codes in Australia. Always have been. This moment in time will see a reset in the sporting landscape. There won't be the money. Sport at the top has lived beyond its means since 1995...whilst relying on grassroots and its volunteerism to keep it afloat. Hell...soccer NSW wanted club land to hand over its 2020 regos and the associations said no.

They all take the money and still expect fans to pay more for tv, tickets, merchandise...

If NRL can get this island up and running, kudos to them. I can't wait to see some footy. And they might just learn from this all and grow from it.

Surely he can live on 200-300k....we aren't talking pocket change here. He's still being handsomely paid.

probably, but maybe he thought “why should I take the same hit as players when I’m working 12 hour days to keep the game afloat and they’re at home on their playstations”? In hindsight he should have realised the likes of Kent would go after him and probably been a bit more responsive in his pay cut.
