St George Illawarra Dragons centre Tim Lafai has been arrested after allegedly smashing up his home during a domestic dispute over not spending enough time with his children.

Neighbours called police after hearing loud noises coming from the 29-year-old’s home south of Wollongong around lunch time on Good Friday.

Officers will allege they arrived shortly after 1pm and were met by Lafai’s wife Jacqui who said she had not been physically assaulted but the pair had argued over Lafai wanting to train in his home gym with a friend rather than spend time with his children.

Lafai allegedly “started yelling and punching walls with his fist” prompting a neighbour to call police, a police source told The Sunday Telegraph.

Police allegedly spoke to Lafai who said the argument resulted in him going downstairs to “release some frustration”.

There was no evidence of damage so the officers left, only to be called back a short time later by another family member who allegedly said Lafai was “smashing up his house and being aggressive”.

What we do in the shadows back with more bite Settle in with season 2 on Foxtel

There’s no suggestion Lafai had been violent towards his family.

When police arrived they allegedly found Lafai laying down on the back veranda with his wife and others trying to keep him calm.

Police alleged Lafai had red marks on his forehead and blood on his knuckles and extensive damage to the home, including numerous holes “that had been punched through the interior walls”.

Police served Lafai with an apprehended violence order and no charges were laid.

The Samoan international who played five seasons with Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs before joining the Dragons, made headlines in 2016 when he was allegedly involved in a drunken brawl in Wollongong. He was issued infringement notices for “continuing intoxicated behaviour”.

A the time reports said Lafai was heavily intoxicated and allegedly running around with his shirt off. He and the other Dragons player had left a nearby nightclub before the brawls.

Timmy..Timmy..Timmy.
Could not of you still gone down again to your gym and taken your frustration out on the weights.
Why damage your own home?
How dare you try and derail our season and put more pressure on Mary as your coach. He has done his best for you and looked after you and you repay the faith with this.

You’d have to be pretty farked in the head to smash up your own house after being told to look after your kids. The merkin isn’t all right in the head.
Lafai to me is one guy who probably doesn't mind to be put into bubble living arrangements so that he can get away from his kids if going by reports his attack on his house was due to his kids wanting his attention or his wife asking him to help with spending some time with them. What a jerk!

Absolute gold :joy::joy::joy:
can we tear up his contract and move on now!

Nah nah nah
This guy fits the McGregor player rehab profile like an undersized frenchie

Birds of a feather

Just the image we want fo attract women & kids to our game.

Stamp him EOC
(end of career)

He & his great protector have knowingly screwed several juniors & he knows the game’s up.

I remember his interview from 2-3 years ago where he was very aware of the juniors he was blocking

I dunno. This is starting to sound more like a mental health issue. Don't think we should be throwing rocks at the bloke.
Excellent point you make.
All the posts linking this to tearing up his contract are way out of line at this point in time.
Far too many presumptions and lack of understanding being shown.
If anything the club should be offering support to his partner and children and using experts to assess the problems confronting Lafai.
If people read the article carefully if not mistaken the police found no damage to the house on their 1st visit and on their 2nd visit found Lafai laying on the back verandah with his partner who was trying to calm him down.
The damage to the house may have only occurred as a result of the police visit and maybe that indignity triggered his response or perhaps the fact that his neighbours might have called them pissed him off and if that was the situation whilst still not good would be far more preferable than as a result of his partners actions.
Tearing up his contract at this time would be ridiculous and potentially create more disturbing consequences.

Firstly, lets be clear this is a DT piece where over- exaggeration reigns supreme.

In saying that, any violence in these times, would scare the heck out of any partner and more importantly any children.

Lafai is/was playing for a contract this season and now that season is almost gone. Rumours of us signing another centre, contract negotiations on hold, twighlight of his career. You can see where the frustration lies.
However, this doesnt excuse any action that could be construed as violent. As they say 'every action has consequence'.

Will Lafai be sacked? Imo probably not. Will we see him again in 2020, or beyond (in a Red V jersey), probably not.
I only hope he, and his family, get the support they need during this time.
