If th NRL are startng up the comp. again and have promised to cut the waste within their HQ, and SOO is still going ahead, then there should be minimal change to the cap. Rather the cap should be sealed at a slight level lower than the current level with 3rd party payments and 'whole of game' payments being banned.

Player managers should arrange any extra payments for players and those playments should be paid directly to players by the NRL. Players should not be allowed to earn any extra income while under contract to an NRL club or the NRL.

The NRL should be responsible for players payments for SOO and Rep. games.

The league will be looking for all the money that can be generated in the game so that could save 3rd party rather than abolish it.

Manly not budging on 350k it has been reported.Wonder what we have offered ? He is exactly what we need but it could all go pear shaped as he doesn't want to leave a club that has resurrected his career.Long way from the Warringah shire to Wollongong daily , if he doesn't move ( and leave the environment that has stabilized him ) Hope the contract has non performance clauses because i see a lot of ways he could go off the rails again and we could be lumbered with a 1.2 million roadblock in our cap.

Fittler and Freddy think players going to Saints is a bad move for them. The current NSW coach. Yet our board think that Mary is doing a good job to keep him there longer. Are Gould and Fittler really close mates. If so I can see why Fittler feels that way as Gould must had made him aware of the mess they are in.

The only certainty we can take from all this uncertainty is that rumours will increase

According to Peter Peters whom you would think is pretty close to the Manly brainstrust, Des Hasler is not going to pay any more than $350K per year to keep Suli. He claims that SGI have offered Suli a 4 year deal at $600k per year.

After what happened with Frizzell's deal with Newcastle, you could understand Suli's manager seeing the SGI offer for what it is atm- fool's gold. Why bite the Manly hand that is currently feeding you until such time there is some certainty around the salary cap for 2021?.

He’s not worth 650 a year.
If we’re paying anywhere near this I can see it ending in tears :sob:

It's also desperation from a certain coach...

6 years too late McNFI to fix your debilitating centres’ failures that have stymied our attack & defence to the point of Club collapse

The same mateship priorities that have Andrew Gordon squandering his reputation on a failed Waterboy.

The game’s up fellas
Too late

- excisions rather than bandaids are now the only remedy

Get Bennett now

(And ramp up the inside info Rothfield))

Elite players in the market need to know Waterboy is gone.

You lost Tyson because of a failure to call time on McGoner in time Andrew

That is called an opportunity cost, you want me to play with a team that has a moron for a coach and won’t win a premiership in the next 3 years then it’s $650,000 per year. Good for him.

This. It's the only way we are going to attract players until Mary is gone.

Suli was on a reported 430K a year at either Wests or Canterbury. He must be worth more than the 350K that Hasler thinks he is apparently worth. I bet that Aitken and Lafai are both on more than 350K. 600K a year may be a bit much, but if he can live up to the rapts that were on him early in his career, then he may even be worth 600K a year on the current salary cap. We also do need to strengthen our centres and there are not many others off contract at the end of this year who I think we should target. We do have some promising youngsters coming through our system, in Feagai, Schiller and Ramsey who could push Lomax back to centre. Suli does have the potential to be a strike weapon that we have lacked at centre for a while. He is still young and can improve. I think Flanno will be good for his career.

Well whether it's true or not it is credible in that SGI has a history of paying average players more than they're worth- eg Hunt and Norman- and we all know why that has happened.
