Crush we will see. Certain parts of the media like to run with kicking it all back down and prompt answers from people like the PM or a health official nor anyone else that wants a say who they know will not commit to positive answers to toe the lets be cautious line and not hang themselves out on a bit of limb (for the moment). The creases will be ironed out. She'll start. Stories..stories..stories. Covid is in sights of control in this country when you consider a population of 26mill.
I didn't hear it from the media.

For the teams which started the season with successive losses - Gold Coast, the Roosters, Cronulla, St George Illawarra, Canterbury and the Warriors - the equation is they have to win at least 10 games of the remaining 18 rounds or they will have little chance of qualifying for the finals

Can we win 10 from 18? Not a hope in hell I reckon.

The players union wont want to put too many roadblocks up as the players themselves dont get paid from June 1 if it does not restart. It is in their interest to start May 28 as NRL guaranteed salaries up until May 31.

If he can just scrape into 8th they'll be playing on the Grand Final weekend!
top 8 is a yes , dragons can do it

Just watching the Nine News on telly , the P.M. has said the same , as much as he himself would like to see the game re-start on the 28th May they , the Government shall decide when the best time will be .
the recent problem is a few NRL players dickheads breaking corona laws

There's 1 team in that group who will win more than enough to be in the finals.

It's not us.

It has been suggested that teamsxwe started on 0-2 would have to win 10 of the 18 games to make the '8'.
It's an interesting conundrum we find ourselves in with so many factors in play, such as;

1. If Mc85 is still coach
2. If Mc85 is sacked, prior or during the remaining games
3. From point 2, who then would be coach, Flanno? Shep? Young?
4. The revised draw, when do we play the 'top' teams' and who do we play twice?
5. From point 1, does the team want to play for Mc85?
6. Team selection

These are just a few points that will/can shape the remainder of our 2020 season. Making the 8 under Mc85 is a dream, facing the battle for the wooden spoon is the reality.

NRL players refuse to return to training on May 4 if pay agreement isn't reached

NRL players will refuse to return to training next Monday if a pay agreement isn't reached for the revamped season.

Nine's Neil Breen broke the story on Thursday, after team captains spoke on Wednesday night. The impasse focuses primarily on the New Zealand Warriors, who are meant to travel through Australian quarantine barriers to resume their place in the competition.

NRL training was meant to resume on May 4, ahead of the season's planned restart on May 28. Those plans have been thrown into doubt by the players' stance.

"The reason is they do not have a new pay deal with the NRL. The players were promised by the NRL that by yesterday they would receive many things, including all the biosecurity details, all the new rules they had to live by; also, a new pay deal," Breen said on Nine News.

"They were informed by the NRL that wouldn't be able to be given to them for about a week, because while they had agreement with the broadcasters - Nine and Fox Sports - to start the season on May 28, they don't have commercial agreements with the broadcasters. They're toing and froing over how much money they will pay.

"It was then that a delegation from the Warriors, led by Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Blake Green, they told the call, 'Hang on a second, the NRL's not kept up its end of the bargain here. We were supposed to learn by today, they want us to relocate to Australia on Sunday and go into quarantine for two weeks. We're not going to do that, we're not going to travel, because if the deal falls over at a later date, then we'll be stuck in quarantine in Australia with no reason to be there'.

"They were then backed by players from other clubs, led by Cam Smith from the Melbourne Storm. A delegation from the Roosters backed them and they agreed unanimously that until the NRL came through with a pay deal, that they wouldn't train on Monday.

"The players are extremely concerned about the public perception of this move from them, but they have done it in solidarity with their brothers from the Warriors, who do not want to separate from their families and relocate in Australia without the NRL meeting its end of the bargain."

Not sure why the NRL thought the money would just start flowing again.

It’s a shortened competition played in front of no crowds. It’s not the product the broadcasters paid their billions for.

These types of negotiations don’t just happen overnight. And if there is going to be a shortfall, the players will need to buy into the fact they will be paid less which will also take time.

This is what the so called brains trust fail to grasp.

Yes, just heard on the news - so at this moment Warriors refusing to leave on Sunday to start 2 week quarantine. The other players and teams have backed them, so this 28th restart looks shaky..
It’s still not clear that all of the government check offs are done also.
Coupled to the Latrel, JAC, Cleary fiascos- we are one social media post away by some numb nut player - to having the whole thing pulled and canceled for 2020.
Looks like it’s unraveling to me...

As I've said before, the cart was put in front of the horse and the horse has nowhere to go - start dates for training by the sound of things will be deferred and the competition placed in an awkward position regarding the comp starting on 28 May and the timetable for finals etc thrown out. These impositions/financial roadblocks, plus player ignorance in NRL and AFL with not obeying social distance rules will change the complexion of sports recommencing. The Warriors don't know if they are coming or going and best to stay until a much improved strategy has been worked out. Wouldn't surprise me if Wayne Pearce gives the Apollo the heave ho!

Even the politicians are skeptical. The powers that be have got to get cracking and fast to sort all of this out.

Yes, the cart has well and truly been put before the horse, well said.
Hate to sound like a broken record but the NRL administration, players, all of it is an absolute joke.
Great game, shame its run and played mostly by morons.

Now is not the time for the players and their managers, if they are involved, and the RLPA to unleash significant demands that will throw out the chance of any games being played this year which will mean no pay anyway. With what the NRL are trying to do, and that is bring back the games and get paid, the players need to allow the powers that be set the yardsticks now with some flexibility to enable the games to start. Rewards will ultimately follow. They just need to be patient .

Once the negotiations are completed by the NRL and Broadcasters regarding funding, the RLPA should immediately be consulted and informed of the money agreed on and therefore how much can be paid to the players. The players must realise that the mighty dollar for them is not in great supply at the moment and they should be grateful for getting some money whilst other people who are out of work barely managing to pay rent and living costs with the jobkeepers amount being paid to them by the Government.

No one really knows exactly when lots if boxes still need to be ticked but they are determined to start at the original date.
But if too many more of these players break protocol or any of them get this terrible disease who knows what happen.
It's a strange New World
