fox would go bust if they didn’t have nrl, how are they going to say no to us? Sad thing about nrl is we don’t understand how powerful we are, we hold the cards as we have the most watched sport on australian tv. That’s two tv deals in a row now where tv has dictated to the point we’ve sacked a ceo they didNt like because they were aiming for the best for the game, and publicly embarrassed the game. And we reward it. Like a petulant child we keep rewarding this bad behaviour So no wonder it continues. I had hoped this big balls chairman everyone is fawning over would maybe have the Coohoonas to say no more, but instead he has capitulated like the rest, less money, no wins for the game, extension with no competitive tension, undisclosed deals for first time in games history. But hey he makes decisions right?

the guys was getting sacked no matter what
Pre season PVL and Abdo went to states to meet with media , he didn’t take Greenberg
when corona hit , PVL did all the talking not Greenberg

there was talk he was getting chop well before corna hit , if anything it was the clubs that got rid of him as they were complaining he wasn’t calling them , trying to short change on money and bypassing him and going staring to PVL. To get game back up with project Apollo he had Pearce front it not the CEO

if you think he is doing cost cutting and the like because “his media masters” have asked for it your dilutional. Greenberg was spending like an idiot which was evident with the “job’ given to Inglis with his retirement . Please tell me what has Inglis done to earn the cushy paycheque

but yeh keep peddling your agenda against PVL just because he said no to a Perth team

‘it’s sad

Wonder if he believes his bumbling fraud of a mate Beattie could’ve gotten the comp restarted. I highly doubt it.

PVL is the best thing to happen to rugby league since the 10 metre rule was brought in. That's almost 30 years ago.

Greenberg did nothing good for the sport and was a PC nuisance. He treated the Cowboys like shit, denying them the right to train on Stadium Australia before the 2017 GF just so he could virtue signal. His stance against Israel Folau was hypocritical. The worst officiating in the game took place while Greenberg was in charge.

The stance on Folau was 100 percent correct. He has no remorse for his bigoted opinions and will always go on with it. We saved ourselves a lot of unnecessary stress by ignoring that nutter.

it is outstanding that the guy can make a deal that strips $200mill out of nrl revenue and the masses still loves him, I’ll give him credit where it is due, he knows how to play the game lol.
He missed his vocation, should have been a politician.

Religion is a tough one as it promotes discrimination against many groups and behaviours. I think the Soviet Union got it right when they said you're free to practice religion at home, but not in public.

My fault with Greenberg is he talked about inclusiveness, but he excluded a man for practicing his religion. It was dumb too as Folau represents a community that provides a lot of players and supporters for our game. The group Greenberg was suckling up to make up only 1% to 5% of the population and are not strongly linked to the game. Rugby Australia paid a dear price for discriminating against Folau.

You're just bitter because he made the Storm play by the same rules as everyone else.:p:confused:

How much was Greenberg spending on his mates? He may have gotten an extra $200,000,000, but it doesn't mean squat if he's just giving it to Peter Beattie and his mates at head office. Wasn't he spending $500,000 a day? If they're paid 365 days a year that's $182,500,000 in one year. No wonder there was no money left.

Your last few sentences shows how far removed from reality you are ..due to your hatred of PVL.

What competitive tension .
There is none
Media ...tv stations etc are losing $$$ hand ove fist
7 has admitted there was no interest as they are up to their eyeballs in debt & already have Cricket & AFl.
So where is this mythical competitive tension .Ch 10 lol
SBS
...ABC
Lol get real
Besides in your imagination .
There is no one else
Soyou get the best you can from the only two interested .
It's not rocket science but you just can't understand it .
You think there's media companies lined up to buy the rights.
& PVL ignored them or shut them out
It's what you base your arguments on & as most on here know
There's not .
There's no others .

And don't News just love him, says it all really

What is really annoying is that we were always going to align with News Ltd covid-19 or not. As I've said before join the dots of the last year or so.
Why was he in the US 2 months ago with Abdo, what was that about?
They saw our digital as a rival which would have weakened them, now they have a big say in it to their benefit and no longer is it a rival. They have until the end of 2027 to bed it in.

Australia is probably 5 to 10 years away from having genuine interest from foreign bidders, like ESPN, beIN or even Optus. The only way they will be interested is if the NRL produces their own content then sells it to the highest bidder. Foxtel may not be around by then as they're over $2,000,000,000 in debt, by while they are in the msrket they're going to be the highest bidder and the only ones willing to cover production costs.

Rugby league has won big time from this deal. Rugby union and soccer are probably going to be given the flick by Foxtel and FTA don't want them. They will have to produce their own content and hope beIN or ESPN throw a few shekels their way. The NBL ended up going down that route. Fumbleball will surely see a reduction to their deal.

Well if Fox goes under then that $200mil is $0 anyway. Game needs to focus on revenue streams it can grow (streaming, memberships, ticket sales) rather than those that are in a steady decline (Pay TV) or death throes (FTA TV).

should you really tolerate the intolerant just because he says a book tells him he’s right?

there is a streaming service war looming and sport will be the big winner. The churn between streaming services is going to be big, the only thing that will hold subscriptions is new content. Live sport is one of the few new content products that will hold streaming subscribers.
nrl at $350mill a year sounds expensive until you learn that hbo spent $1.5billion US on game of thrones.

Throw in that fta has to have either afl or nrl to survive and there is your competitive tension. Ch9 are fcked without nrl and they know it. Going to walk away? yeh of course they are and consign themselves to the fate ch10 just went through.

Or we could just take less money and hand the future to news ltd, again. Oh hang that’s what he did. Wouldn’t be so bad if we actually got something out of it for the benefit of the game but we didn’t. We got exactly the same for a lot less money. Looks very much like a win-loss to me in the ledger.

He criticised many groups of people from a biblical perspective. I don't know why people are so outraged. I am not religious and think religion is pointless, but I am not going to deny others the right to gain meaning from it. I also feel sad for him as he's been brainwashed. Punishing some one for being gullible isn't tolerant.

Folau never went to New York to terrorise a family. The Donkeys have a nut playing for them who did exactly that. Greenberg showed what a hypocrite he is by allowing him to play. I don't recall Folau ever falling foul of the law.
