The Brisbane players couldn’t even muster a modicum of decency & own their baggage and front the post match media duties as they’re obliged to do. Pathetic weak merkins.

There's that famous qlderp PASHUN and spirit!
Well it appears there isn’t much quality of character when it comes to their captain.

Seibold said of his 22-game lock, who will co-captain Brisbane with Brodie Croft against the Roosters on Thursday night. "I have a great deal of belief in him. He lives the values we are trying to drive here. They’re not just words on a wall to Paddy. That’s why he’s progressed so quickly."

It begs the question, exactly what are those values?

Hide & refuse to front up when things don’t go well. Bright future.

big hit!

We are going to get plenty of scores like last night. In the past the battlers could sometimes pull a upset off by slowing the game down and frustrating a very good team. That’s out the window now. Give a team like the Chooks more than 50% of the ball and your in heaps of bother. Possession is now the no1 goal and that comes from discipline and a great defence

this is it.

Rushing a quick PTB won't be as important as before if you can now get stupid opposition to give you 10+ tackle sets. It cleans up the ruck area, but the disparity of time in possession during games has been greater since the rule change. get on the wrong side early and it gets worse as the game progresses

2 weeks in a row we've been thumped and in both games we got penalised early (opening minutes), then it just snowballs and all of a sudden they're trying to get some respect into the score

It didn't snowball for Newcastle last week.

At the end of the day it comes back to effort.

The Broncos showed no heart and got spanked in b2b games. That's more down to them than the rule changes.

Yeah, have to agree I'm afraid. Defence is about attitude, I've seen fatigued players try better in defence than a number of the Broncos did last night. It wasn't the edge players who were the problem, it was the middle players, with Matt Lodge being one of the worst exponents. His attempted tackling was ordinary for most of the game as other than trying, and bungling to get a big shot on Lindsay Collins, he just hung arms out all game or went for grabs - his tackling technique was piss poor as it reflected the lack of effort and pride.

As such when the younger guys see the more senior guys doing crap like that, they think it is ok for them to do so too.

Generally when we give the opposition a touch up in the first half we get bored and the 2nd half is 6-6 or something like that.

Sure wasn't the case yesterday.

Then cut the rubbish in the ply the ball and you are fine. Zero sympathy for teams that don’t clean up the ply the ball. Make the tackle, get up and move away. It’s not rocket surgery

Just to reiterate my point on effort vs rule changes in determining the blow out; if every verteran Bronco played like the Morris bros and every rookie like Lindsay Collins then you don't get blown out. Simple as that.
