JAC probably doesn't fit Ivan's bang for buck strategy. We struggle to our back 5 involved in attack and Crichton looks like he will get a decent upgrade.

Wish we took a stab at Brett Morris a couple years back. Way too many people wrote him off. One of the best finishers and doesn't command top dollar.

You are right, he certainly doesn't fit Ivan's strategy. For a start, he scores tries..........

TUSSLE OVER TAMOU

Rival clubs are circling Penrith skipper James Tamou, with the ex-Kangaroos prop after a longer-term deal than the one year the Panthers have offered.

Tamou had discussions with the Panthers weeks ago but the 31-year-old is yet to hear back about his wish for a three-year extension.

Meantime, several NRL and Super League clubs have expressed interest in signing Tamou on a multi-year deal.

After a patchy 2018 season, Tamou returned to his best last year when appointed Penrith captain and has no shown no signs of slowing down with a strong showing in his opening three games as he prepares to play his 249th NRL game on Friday night.

Tamou is in the final year of the rich four-year deal he signed to join the Panthers after a successful eight-year stint with North Queensland where he won a premiership and rose to become a Kangaroos and NSW regular.

From the Masked Panther in the Western Weekender this week

There’s some talk doing the rounds that the Panthers may be talking with Castleford Tigers prop Liam Watts, possibly as a replacement for James Tamou next season. The 29-year-old has played close to 300 games in the UK, and while he does have a contract until the end of 2023, there’s whispers that an Australian adventure may be on the cards.

Never heard of this fella. It sounds like he has a few miles on the clock.
If Tamou goes and we want experience why can't we get a 25- 27 year old with 150 games under his belt?

There’s probably legs to this rumour. We have no quality or depth in our outside backs and yet we contemplate bringing in a 29 year old front rower to replace a 31 year old front rower. I suspect this might just happen.

On a serious note, I would be happy to just resign Tamou on a reduced deal. One year deal with the option of a second year in the clubs favour. If he can get a longer deal elsewhere I would wish him well and he has to look after his interests.
