can't do that because players cry that their salary's will be exposed. They prefer the general public and journos just to speculate

The problem with this is:

A) It is never going to happen.

B) The NRL would just be publishing the on cap money counted. As that suits their "there is nothing to see here, our comp is even" BS, and the NRL will just say TPA's are separate to the cap money and not paid to players to play for a club and blah blah the usual rubbish they come out with.

So publishing a players cap salary is pointless.

And I don't give a crap what people like Babyface above carry on with, players are paid off the cap in TPA to play for a club, it's been shown plenty of times. Certain clubs have an advantage here making the comp uneven. It's not a narrative, it's just a fact.

Denying it simply suits the narrative of the supporter with his head in the sand. Usually they follow one of the clubs with the advantage in TPA's.

Exactly.

Declaring what each club tells the NRL a player is getting paid wont solve anything.

Fans will just claim there are secret, undeclared payments.

Secret undeclared payments you say? Until a vagueish reference was made last year about 'whole of game' sponsorship, who knew anything about them?

it’d still be interesting to see how clubs are spending their legit $10mill and would give fans the opportunity to lol at $1mill players on $500k!

There are threads on this already.

It is a no brainer. All salaries should be published.

Absolutely no reason why they should not be.

The carrying on is from the you.lot. When TPA figures we’re published last year, nobody believed the Roosters 300k figure which was my whole point.

If it works for other sporting leagues, don't see why it wouldnt work for the NRL. More transparency could only be a good thing IMO. It would also promote more accountability in terms of how clubs spend their cap

This is why they should bring in a points system. So it's not what they are actually being paid that is capped (although you could cap that as well just as now) but each individual player in each 30 man squad is assessed from 1 to 100 and the total is capped. This would also solve the TPA issue.

You’d have to have it weekly updated given the variation in form of some players!
