Reed Mahoney Re-Signs
Author
parraeels.com.au
Parramatta Eels hooker Reed Mahoney has extended his contract with the Club for two years until the end of the 2022 season.

Mark O’Neill, Parramatta Eels Club General Manager of Football said, “Reed is an obvious talent on the field, but equally what he does off the field is of great significance to the culture we are instilling at the Eels. We look forward to his continued development as we strive for further success.”

Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur said, “I’m really pleased Reed will remain with our squad. His game has continued to develop and he’s a great person to have around the Club”.

Reed joined the Club in 2017 where he played 28 games in the Eels Under 20s team and subsequently won the Steve Ella NYC player of the year at the annual Ken Thornett Medal Awards ceremony.

In 2018 Reed made his NRL debut for Parramatta in Round 14 and was named in the State of Origin Queensland Under 20 squad. He earned his first representative jersey last year when he was named on the bench for the Australia PM XIII side and the hooker for the U23 Junior Australian side.

Big names to be renewed end of '22 ... if moses is doing well he would no doubt opt out for an upgrade

Thats assuming the zombies havent stopped the NRL by 2022 of course

Joey said that Moses is one of the few genuine million dollar players. Teddy Munster etc.

I read somewhere we are the club with the cheapest highest paid player, Moses @ 750k. It’s great to see us finally paying players what they are worth.
Yep but there teams that will prolly offer him the $1m. Do we match offers or let him walk ?

Thats a good question, maybe the lure of being the first team to win 4 in a row since the Dragons will make him stay for less :sunglasses:

Agreed my instinct is that you offer him more but leave it short of the big offers. If he wants to go to Dogs or Brisbane then he can take the cash and risk his career stalling.

So unsigned for 2020 are Salmon, Taka, Davey!, Evans, Peni, Stone.

Taka needs to be locked in IMO, same with Stone.

Can we afford to lose Evans, Peni and Steffano ? Cleary we need front row depth. Can we expect Hughes and Hollis to be genuine depth ?

If the Ram School of Negotiation and Talent Identification has taught me anything it’s:
  1. The good players at the club need to be signed up well in advance to other clubs getting a sniff to get them on club friendly deals.
  2. Players who are labelled plodders but are viewed as ok players should be given take it or leave it ultimatums on every contract.
  3. Good players at other clubs should be made offers they can’t refuse.
  4. Players who aren’t viewed as 1st grade starters by Rorters or Scum shouldn’t be offered contracts under any circumstance. Unless they are coming from the Rorters or Scum.
I find it a little disconcerting our lack of Origin players signed up for 2024
