IT’S a big 48 hours for Paul McGregor and the St George Illawarra Dragons. The joint venture board is leaning toward sacking Mary after the Eels match on Friday night. The Dragons side of the board – Peter Doust, Ralph Piggott, Craig Young and Peter Black – are all in favour of ending McGregor’s seven-year tenure. The WIN side of the joint venture club – Andrew Gordon, Andrew Lancaster, Craig Osborne and Graeme Gulloch – aren’t quite so hard-line but it will only take one of them to swing the axe. The Dragons will still have to pay McGregor around the $400,000 mark – half of his contract for next season.

The Board should let McGregor know that it will be exercising its right to terminate him in November and make this public for the sake of player retention and recruitment.

Then immediately start informal discussions with a short list of experienced coaches.

Can’t see Flanno being allowed to coach us next season, hence we need to clear the decks to make way for the second coming!

Well of course Craig Young is manoeuvring for Junior to take the reigns, as Interim to begin with and the rest will be history.
Dean Young has been a part of the mess and his appointment spells more of the garbage the club has produced since 2012.
