For a fella who is worth abt 800 mil you’d think a lazy 5 mil for Bellamy over 3 years would be beneficial for him in the long run??

J.moz he certainly is the type of coach that the Dragons sorely need , but I read somewhere that if he was to leave the Storm he would more than likely take a year off and recuperate from what must be a most exhausting and stressful career .

If and it’s a big if , should he return to the coaching ranks once again I believe that he would only to go to a club that can afford to open the cheque book and unfortunately the Joint Venture simply wont do that mate .

The St George side of the partnership has as much wealth as the Gordons. With about 800m each there is no good reason not ot ensure we have the best coaching staff, management staff and training facilities in the NRL.

Just get on with it! Old backroom deals are just that, old and no longer needed or relevant. Bellamy is more likely to go to a Roosters or Broncos team where resources are not a problem.

If he returns, I'd say it'll be with the Drongos.

Whoever coaches the Drongos next year is under pressure, because Referee Cameron & Craig Bellowing are on the list.

A pipe dream at best.

As it stands Bellamy is locked in until 2022 anyway.

Look at the setup down there and the makeup of the Storm's management and compare it to ours.

They're all self-made, successful businessmen who take an active role in the running of the club...

Ours is a mix of small business operators, ex-players and the son of a billionaire... who clearly isn't allowed to make big money decisions without Daddy's input... and there's little evidence to suggest Daddy gives a stuff beyond having a controlling interest in the joint.

Meanwhile Melbourne have just offered a percentage of their club to the owner of the Toronto Wolfpack.

A move which would give them the ability to "channel" players into nice retirement deals over there after finishing at the Storm.

That’s not happening. Not take anything away from him either and I agree he keeps getting the job done but he has had some very very handy players during his time. The type of players like Smith in particular that influence the players around more than any coach will. I tend to agree with Gus about support staff being more important anyway.

As crazy and unrealistic as the idea of getting Bellamy is, it's probably the most sane suggestion out there.

After close to 3 decades of passionate support for this club, if there is one thing that has become solid fact it is the coach makes the greatest difference. The NRL is very close to being a 2 or 3 horse race due to the 2, maybe 3 coaches you would classify as elite. Your chances of winning significantly decrease if you don't have a Bellamy, Robinson or Bennett at the helm.Occasionally the outlier gets up which is just as well. Maybe the Panthers will this year. Good luck to them but they will have to defy the odds.

I mean, here we are another sad weekend with not a great deal to get excited about our club, except for maybe the contemplation of a new coach who is without proven in premiership credentials. We've had some gun players and some brilliant teams over the years but it was only the signing of Bennett that broke a cycle of being pretenders. We need to break the cycle again. We need to at least try something big.

Remember the club came really close to signing Bellamy before we signed Bennett. Plus Cooper Cronk has a clause to leave the Storm if Bellamy left so we likely were going to get him too. At that time News Ltd wasn't prepared to go much above $0.5m and we offered him a $1m per year.

Just like Bennett after Newcastle her verbally agreed to join us and then used our offer to get more money from News Ltd and stay with the Storm. Bellamy is a mercenary pure and simple and if he goes somewhere it will be to the Broncos because they have the biggest cheque book and they are skilled at manipulating the salary cap which obviously is something Bellamy is very comfortable with.
