An NRL WESTERN & INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE. (NRLWIC)

The NRL seems to have zero interest in expanding into the South and Western Australia in the near future.

The Current NRL Competition is rock solid, and although there is talk of expansion into Brisbane in the next 2-3 Years, the West is a very long way off from even having a thought of entering a team into the NRL.

I feel South and Western Australians are very much been left in the dark and with the Force still playing professional Rugby, thousands of League fans in the West will jump codes.

So my solution is this! why not form a completely new Professional competition, endorsed, funded and operated by the NRL which will give the NRL extra revenue more broadcasting money, and expand their brand Internationally into Indonesia, Asia and Africa..

The “NRLWIC” could include teams from Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, Indonesia, Hong Kong, South Africa, Singapore Japan and PNG.

I can see the bulk of these teams being owned and funded by the Mining industry, which could mean unlimited money poured into the Competition.

I could see the “NRLWIC” being a instant success with the tourism industry’s of all the country’s the teams will be playing out of.

This will take a couple of years to form of course, but the end result will be “BIG”, and this could be the “NEXT BIG THING” for “RUGBY LEAGUE”.

Any FEEDBACK?

Would cost a bomb to run. Would compete with NRL for already thinly spread talent.

So it looks like @Perth Red will remain a Storm fan for a few more years.

It's sad really because when Abdo got appointed NRL CEO expansion was something that could come to the table.
If WA and SA weren't going to be expansion targets, then what was the point of playing SOO in Perth and the Storm v Roosters in Adelaide?

Whose to say they are not eventual targets? Can't do much with little money of the past 20 plus years.Brisbane 2 will only get up, if it's shown to be financially viable long term.
Abdo is required to trim $40-50m off the NRL costs as a starting point on reining in costs.Other codes are doing likewise.

The NRLWIC will be a completely different competition with its own management structure, Funding and income Stream. The NRLWIC could become more of an Asset for the NRL long term.

Personally, I can’t see the current NRL Management putting a team in SA or WA Within the next 5-8 years, if that!!

A second team in Brisbane is the only thing on the table right now. The thought of a team in Perth has fizzled out completely.

I believe the NRLWIC could be up and running by 2022, look at how quickly Rapid Rugby Formed, with the creation of new Professional Teams. “One multi-Millionaires dream“.

THE ONLY WAY SA or WA WILL GET A TEAM IS IF A CURRENT SYDNEY CLUB RELOCATES TO SA or WA or IT FOLDS.

Rugby League has a massive fan base in SA & WA, the NRL and the Clubs take full advantage of that and profit from it.

don’t kid yourself, any games played in perth, Adelaide, Melbourne or nz are all about the $’s. Nrl and clubs have no real interest in Growing the game, just balancing the books.
