It is great to have a source of info flowing down to the masses. It removes some of the stress as a fan worrying about what the club is thinking with recruitment & retention.

I get why clubs can't or don't comment on such rumours but is a good thing to have

They use Townsville, Mackay and Northern Pride as feeder teams. You can't logistically sign all those guys as feeder players.

So I wait to see what the contract structure is.

Why would they need to sign all of them? Just sign players in positions you need, would be pretty simple.

Burton staying would be a pleasant surprise. Was sure there'd be a club willing to start him.

Blade are you privy to what his role in the squad will be? Just first drop in the halves?

At the moment back up half. But has been training in other positions. Hooker, Centre, and Fullback. Expands his learning of what it takes to play in other positions and gives him more versatility should the need arise. With no reserve grade, it has been a nuisance. you can't try these things out.
By what I have heard he is happily training away and learning. Not too agitated about not playing FG at the moment.
There has been a suggestion he could follow a Wade Graham and John Sutton path and later settle in the back row.
I would say the next pre season there might be a more definite decision on him where he plays. Should he commit long term. They have big plans for him.

Lang on League: Securing young guns will come at a cost

The Panthers are pulling out all stops to secure the signatures of young guns Stephen Crichton, Matt Burton, Charlie Staines and Tyrone May on long-term contracts before November 1, after which 15 other clubs can legally start making them offers.

It’s true the club has already given Staines the opportunity to test the market prior to that date but only because they want to secure his long-term future at the foot of the Mountains sooner rather than later.

Of the players listed above, all of them are expected to re-sign with the Panthers before the start of next season, yes even Matt Burton, who has been the subject of multiple rumours, does not want to go anywhere. His reinvention as a lock forward is expected to begin during the off-season.

Unfortunately to keep all these brilliant young players, the club will let go James Tamou and Jack Hetherington, with the Tigers expected to pick up Tamou, while Hetherington could join the Warriors.

The other possible casualty is fan favourite Josh Mansour, as reported in the ‘Masked Panther’ last week. Mansour has one year remaining on his current contract but the club won’t offer him a new one beyond 2021. So if he can find a two or three-year deal with another club, Josh will also be released early.

It’s a tough business but it costs money to keep your top squad together for more than one season. Penrith believe they can build a dynasty over the next five years with the players listed above at the core.
But as with everything, it will come at a price.

If Hetherington, Tamou and Mansour going keeps Staines, Burton and Crichton here long term that's easily excellent for us.

Being able to keep 2 of these talents without a top spot for them yet would be incredible.

If Whare goes Dale Copley might be worth a look at. Experienced and wouldn't cost much. Reasonable backup option.

Even better when one doesn't have to rely on the scummy media with their inaccurate stories, usually driven by agenda.
3 times in the past 10 days the Telegraph have put Burton in the Bulldogs dream team for 2021.
Reading Blades mail that he is getting closer to staying is a relief.
Thanks Blade23 for sharing.
