Possibly Kevin Walters would be a good choice to work with our 6 and 7. Attract some quality players in Staggs and Hass when they come of contact.
good contacts, good contracts, dragons need all of that good stuff,
Assistants yes please

Alan Watt from the warriors must be in the mix too.

Dean Whare should also be considered.

Steve Georgallis, Cameron Ceraldo, Neil Henry, David Furner, Waterboy Steve Price. Even Trent Barrett as I don’t rate him a coach. Nathan Brown will be available in round 4 Gus will definitely undermine him go to the board and cry like he did at Penrith telling the board Browny is teasing him like Hook did.

Seriously the 5 I mentioned above are genuine good assistants.

St George-Illawarra interim coach Dean Young poised to leave Dragons: report

After being turned down for the Dragons top job interim Saints coach Dean Young is poised to quit the club.

St George-Illawarra recently appointed former Penrith and Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin as its coach next year leaving the club great out in the cold.

Young is now tipped to join incoming North Queensland coach Todd Payten's staff as an assistant, according to News Corp.

The assistant coach has been linked to NRL rivals Wests Tigers, Newcastle and the Warriors but is still officially under contract with the Dragons. It's said the Knights and Cowboys are favourites to sign the 2010 premiership hero.

Young was an assistant coach under Paul McGregor before being named interim coach, and he has another year remaining on his current Dragons contract.

It's understood St George wanted to keep Young around and groom him as a possible successor to Griffin.

Young and Griffin have a close relationship and the club would ideally like to see him stay for the remainder of his deal but won't stand in his way if he lands a job elsewhere.

Young's father Craig is a club director.

Craig and Dean Young have had their noses in the trough at the Dragons for far too long. I sure hope they both go at seasons end..

I'd like to see Griffin reunite with Brennan and maybe hire a good defensive coach as well.

Can only guess that Dean was desperate to get the job, and was probably hoping that he would get it with Griffin coming in on staff as an assistant (perhaps as recruitment & pathways manager). The 'Young Brigade' probably requested David Furner to be interviewed for the purpose of an assistants role as well.

The Dragons Management Team must be reading these forums. Seems that a complete clean out of the football team staff is underway. Can only imagine that the playing roster is next in Hooks cross-hairs.
