They're always over the cap and they always find ways to spend

Fans need to stop worrying about cap space, its easily created and moved by the good GM's.

Yes and no - they've been creative (and tried to be again with the Browns/Clowney deal but the NFL nixed it) but most of what they're doing is kicking the can down the road - the whole reason they're so far over is all the backended deals, restructures and voided money pushed into future years... but sooner or later the bill comes due.

It's not a bad strategy though, given Brees looks to be right at the end. Try to squeeze the last years out of him with the best roster around him you can manage. Take the year after he retires ('21 or '22) to clear all that forwarded money and start again from that point.. and maybe during that year you find out Hill or whichever recycled former starter is currently on the roster is your guy moving forward. Or maybe that QB sucks enough to get a guy Payten likes more.

COVID might change this for at least one year, but the problem is teams can keep kicking the can down the road because the cap keep rising at such a big rate.
I guess at some point the bill comes due, and maybe it comes quicker with COVID but for the most part you can just keep kicking that can as long as you like because the nature of contracts and the rise in the cap yearly
