It out-rated the A League and Super Rugby. How in the hell couldn’t they make money from it??

Another Todd Greenburg failure.

It was broadcast on fox and fox wasn't going to pay extra for it as it would not drive any subscriptions as everyone watching under 20s would already be signed up for NRL anyway where as Soccer would add some new subscriptions.

The NSWRL is pleased to announce 11teams will be involved in the state’s premier Rugby League competition, the NSW Cup for the 2021 season, including the Canberra Raiders under their own logo for the first time in 14 years.

The competition was cancelled after the opening round in 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic which had an impact on sporting competitions across the globe.

The teams involved this season include Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles, Canberra Raiders, Mounties, Newcastle Knights, Newtown Jets, North Sydney Bears, Parramatta Eels, Penrith Panthers, South Sydney Rabbitohs, St George Illawarra Dragons and the Western Suburbs Magpies.

“The NSW Cup is a competition steeped in history and has thrown up plenty of memorable moments over the years,” NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said.

“It’s great to see the competition return in 2021. I’m sure the players are all looking forward to it and will be ready to go from the opening game.”

It is the first time Canberra has returned to the NSW Cup under the Raiders logo since 2007 having previously been aligned with Mounties. Canterbury-Bankstown have played under the Bulldogs logo in the NSW Cup but will now align with Mounties.

The NSWRL has already announced it is looking at ways for players to move freely between the NRL and the NSW Cup this season including regular COVID-19 tests. The draw for the NSW Cup is yet to be finalised but the opening round has been scheduled for 13 March.

The NSWRL season will kick off on 6 February with the Junior Representative competitions including SG Ball Cup and the Tarsha Gale Cup (Under 19s), Laurie Daley Cup (Under 18s), Harold Matthews Cup (Under 17s) and Andrew Johns Cup (Under 16s).

Other competitions being administered this season include the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership, Jersey Flegg Cup, a Presidents Cup competition which will involve teams from the Ron Massey Cup (Central Conference), Newcastle (Northern Conference) and Illawarra (Southern Conference) and the Sydney Shield.

Couple of Eels tries here
Was their for those 3 games then went out to penrith for thje 2nd half of Flegg and the other trials.

I said the #1 play would make the plays of the week, but I didn't know it would rate so highly.

Also for those noticing the Knock On Effect NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Teams, we have the bye round 1. Round 2, Flegg Plays the Dragons at Ringrose @ 3:30pm and NSW Cup plays the Raiders at New Era Stadium @ 5:30pm

Just glad they have created teleporter technology so I can watch both games live.
