Interesting that Walkers pulled back on the residential tower proposal. It confirms what most are saying that the apartment market in Parra has reached saturation and the oversupply will impact on capital gain potential.
Commercial real estate presents its own challenges and risks at the moment and potentially into the future.

I've seen larger office blocks than that, Suity.

As emjaycee's article points out, it will be the largest office tower in Oz, which I stated. Unless of course you were talking about office blocks overseas.
It won't be the tallest (that belongs to the Rialto in Melbourne. It will be the largest by leasable floor space (over 127000 m2).

It's only 2 metres taller than the MLC Centre in Sydney but has much larger floor plates. (pic 1 below)

It has about 12000 m2 more floor space that the largest of the International Towers at Barangaroo South. (red one, pic 2 below.)

There is a proposal in at the moment for 56 Pitt st Sydney, which will be much taller than this and may just pip it on square meterage. (pic No 3 - no design released yet)

Also, Salesforce Tower at Circular Quay (currently under construction) may also pip it for floor space.

It's a shame that Parra looks like a dump right now. If you walk through the Sydney CBD buildings are not draped with stark scaffolding. Most buildings have historical images on hoardings which IMO takes the edge off the building site feel.

Here we go again. Of course there is going to be some disruption.
They were going to tools down for 12 weeks over Xmas, but they have come to an agreement for work through. I think that they have learnt from the George Street, Anzac Parade Kingsford Kensington shit fight which sent so many business to the wall.

Lol. That proposal was announced a few months ago and posted elsewhere on this site. The article shows a few blokes putting a shovel into a set up box full of soil, announcing the beginning of construction of a 3500 seat grandstand with a gym underneath. It's hardly going to be a mini Bankwest.
I thought the sand boxes were for the neighborhood dogs to poop in rather than doing their business on the playing field.

Manly chairman Scott Penn has called for the state government to redirect its funding focus towards suburban grounds, starting with the transformation of his NRL club's home stadium at Brookvale into a "mini Bankwest".

The first step in upgrading Lottoland began on Friday when construction began on a $33.1 million centre of excellence and northern grandstand. An additional 3000 seats will be added to the venue with a view to having the project completed in time for the start of the 2022 NRL season.

"It's about working with government to ensure we achieve their outcomes and ours."

The master plan for the COE and additional 3000 seats is structured in a way that would allow for a total stadium rebuild in the future without affecting the initial upgrades. ADCO Constructions will build the initial project.

"It's going to be great," said Sea Eagles backrower Jake Trbojevic.

"Obviously we love playing here. Me and [brother] Tom grew up playing here, so it's really special.

"To have this facility here with another 3000 seats in the stadium is extremely exciting.

"It's a ground that has a lot of character. When you get a decent crowd here, it's very special to play here. With this facility and the grandstand [coming], we're really excited."

Knights fans will be able to get to games at Bankwest much more quickly now.
(BTW, as from tomorrow, no traffic lights on the drive between Newcastle and Melbourne).

The ribbon has been cut on Australia's deepest road tunnel, Sydney's $3 billion NorthConnex, after almost a year of delays.

The long-anticipated "missing link", connecting the M1 Pacific Motorway to the M2 in Sydney's north will open to motorists in the early hours of Saturday.

First scheduled to open late last year, the project was earlier this year pushed back to the third quarter of 2020 , with commissioning delays then dragging out for another month amid coronavirus travel restrictions.

Motorists will be charged $7.99 for a car and $23.97 for a truck. Trucks will also be fined $194 for driving along Pennant Hills Road.

NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance said the twin tunnels, which burrow as deep as 90 metres, would prove "life changing" for Sydneysiders, as motorists would be able to travel from Newcastle to Melbourne without encountering a traffic light.

While truck drivers say they're being unfairly targeted by being funnelled onto a tollway, Mr Constance said the move would alleviate pressure on Pennant Hills Road, one of the state's most congested.

The government predicts the tunnel will remove 5000 trucks a day from Pennant Hills Road, and have the capacity to carry 100,000 vehicles over 24 hours.

More than 140 jet air fans line the roof of the tunnel, which also features 46 kilometres of heat sensing optical cable that triggers a segmented sprinkler system in case of fire.

Five thousand LED lights are dotted across the tunnel as well as 400 electric signs and close to 850 cameras.
The tunnel is slated to open at 2am on Saturday, although it could be pushed back if heavy rain impacts the final works.

The NSW government paid $577 million for the tunnel, with the Commonwealth pitching in $412 million. Tolling giant Transurban, which will operate the tunnel, paid $2 billion along with several private partners.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the project would inject $4 billion into the economy and had created more than 8000 jobs, many of which were sustained during the coronavirus pandemic.

I guess that means that the Orbital is complete ?

There is still a lot of work being done around Balmain. They are tunnelling under the suburb from Iron Cove Bridge and splitting the traffic between Anzac Bridge and a link to City West Link and WestConnex. It will transform that Darling Street / Victoria Road sector.

What’s next ? I’m guessing they’ll need to start linking up with Nancy Bird ?

Sydney's new major tourist attraction is almost ready to open. For those Eels fans that will come here from outside the metro area, it might be worth a visit. Crown Tower.
13 new food and beverage options available in an amazing location in a stunning building at Barangaroo.
There will be a metro station at Barangaroo within 3 years available nearby to access, otherwise, there's a ferry service almost at the front door.
