That's good :)

They really cant change 3rd party TPA's as it would be seen as a restraint of trade. Seem to recollect some test case re using own image to earn which a sports comp tried to stop? Getting serious about what is and isnt a 3rd party TPA and making sure its not connected to resigning for a club would be something. Mind you now the integrity unit resources have been stripped its probably going to be open season again.

Most of the TPA's relate to the top star players as well and they are the ones we want to see on our TV screens advertising products, its good exposure for the sport at end of day. Most of that Melbourne amount would have been Billy Slater deals, he seemed to be on TV adds all the time at end of his career!

As long as the Storm are consistently competing in the NRL competition and Perth are not ,the NRL have just about got the scheduling right.Add a lashing of Brisbane 2 for taste.

Ok - slurped a coffee and worked through Spoons. I'm not as technically adept as @Last Week and so manually had to put in as opposed to a neat spreadsheet image.

If you're a major company wanting a famous athlete to sponsor your product, you wouldn't spend shit on a Melbourne Storm player. Up until this year only 17k watched the Storm in Melbourne on 9Gem. You'd get better bang for buck throwing that money at players from the 9 Sydney clubs to run ads in The Daily Telegraph and Sydney TV.

Equality of opportunity does not equal equality of outcome.
Ift that’s the case valheru why have a salary cap let it be Lord of the flies stuff, after all anything goes with third party payments and we know which club benefits from those payments. Anyway if the salary cap disappears the only clubs playing in the competition will be the Roosters Souths Brisbane and Storm....how exciting would that be.

It'd be like Formula 1 or the EPL. Only a few teams have a realistic chance of winning the comp unless a Russian Oligarch buys them.

I've got no problem with 3rd party payments that are declared. Good luck the the players who can earn more from their personal brand, and to the clubs who've attracted and/or developed them.

The management of the cap is an art and it's pretty clear which teams are like Rembrandt and which ones are like a toddler finger-painting.

Because the salary cap offers the equality of opportunity part.

It is up to the clubs what to do with it. There is absolutely no requirement (nor should there be) that every club wins X amount of premierships in Y time frame, that would just be silly.

Smith retires, it'll be the end of the Storm for a while. Including the players already moving on. They'll have to do some "scouting" from elsewhere.

likely just some players that can’t get a run in the reserve grade squads of Sydney teams

Tigers produced stars like Tedesco, Papenhuyzen and Addo-Carr. Storm and Roosters sign them up and benefit. I have no doubt that if a Bellamy or Robinson got their break at the Tigers then it would only be a matter of time until the Storm signed them away.

Fans don't want their clubs to be a development farm for the Storm and Roosters.

Clubs end up paying overs to prevent these two powerhouses from pillaging their rosters completely, which prevents them from putting together a complete team as they don't have any money left.

Stop complaining guys.
Our loser clubs just have to be better and use tpa's to our advantage. Blame our clubs boards, coaching and recruitment for not being as smart as the Roosters or Storm.

We just need to clone Politis and Bellamy to make it a fair comp
We all just need to find coaches with better hair.

Mate your club would have been considered one of the heavyweights from the start of the NRL era right up until the end of the 2011 season when Bennett left the place to go to shit.

You guys had 11 finals appearances (out of 14) with a premiership, 2 GFs and 4 PFs. That is the same amount of premierships as us and more finals appearances albeit we had more GF/PF appearances.

The dragons have no one to blame but themselves for what has happened since.
