Careful, Orangeman will get upset suggesting a permanent move back home
Why so fragile?

I completely support St George playing all their games from Kogarah.

I think all NSW cup games should be played in suburban grounds.

No he is made of sterner stuff than that matey . It is and has been the St.George Illawarra Dragons since ‘99 . But regardless a few more matches at the spiritual home of the Dragons would be tremendous for the local diehards .

Agree..

The Dragons should be allowed to hold the Anzac match at our home ground rather than the Roosters.

Allow the club to help participate in a proper ritual would be awesome, plus helps to bring more home games back home..

Not to mention deleting those heritage SCG games..

An official, non negotiable 6/6 split between the Gong & Kogarah is long overdue..

Mmm a great new stadium for the Dragons at our spiritual home.

Can you imagine!

However, after a great game at our fantastic, modern and technically advanced new stadium, it's just a short walk across the Princess highway to the Taj Mahole for yum cha
As part of the upgrade, we should probably ask them to build an overpass TBH..

As you have said - it is long overdue and the Dragon fans of Sydney would welcome that even split . And besides the Anzac ritual they could perhaps have some type of mechanical device of a huge Dragon that billows fire :fire: each of the home matches ? Would certainly be better than the loud handclap of the Raiders .

I was saying ritual in terms of the Anzac Day game..

Having the ceremony at Kogarah would be awesome..

But in terms of an ongoing dragon breathing fire, that would work too..

I’d prefer a real one to a mechanical one though..

This morning the NSW Government has confirmed that Jubilee Oval at Kogarah will be redeveloped under a significant state grant that will revitalise the home of the Dragons as a first class local sporting venue.
While details will be made clear in the upcoming state budget, it looks like it will be fulfilling a $200 million redevelopment plan from Georges River Council that will be a complete game changer for the sport across the entire St George region.
Like many who grew up around here, some of my best memories have been watching the Dragons play from the hill, and this investment will ensure new generations are able to enjoy the same excitement as we will now be able to secure many more local matches which would otherwise have been played in places like Sydney Olympic Park.
During the last state election Labor was calling for real investment in the suburban grounds that drive local, grassroots involvmenet in sport rather than the white elephant spends that were being proposed in the city. It's good to see the Treasurer is finally on board with our proposal!

On the radio yesterday they mentioned that the at Kogarah they might want the sharks to play out of Kogarah as well.
Turn the suburban grounds into grounds like Bankwest so many updated stadiums to be shared as a home ground.
Ie jubilee.

Let this be a bold and innovative project with car parking, a bus and train station under the main ground.

St George Leagues Club should step up to the plate with a redevelopment of their site to include a multi story development that includes restaurants, entertainment centre, the club and a 5 star hotel.

This site is in close proximity to Mascot Airport and direct rail and highway rout to the city of Sydney; a perfect location for high profile sporting vents such as Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer.

This is great news for St George region and the community, Oatley MP Mark Coure said. Picture: Chris Lane.

Kogarah MP Chris Minns and Rockdale MP Steve Kamper are on a unity ticket with the government and say as local MPs they'd be "mad" to knock back any investment in local sporting infrastructure.

Oatley MP Mark Coure says he is excited about the NSW government's possible commitment to funding suburban stadiums like Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, and Labor MPs Chris Minns (Kogarah) and Steve Kamper (Rockdale) agree with him.

The NSW government has pledged to inject additional funding into suburban Sydney sports grounds, saying it wants to "move away from the big stadiums".

NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet on Monday said funding in this month's state budget may be funnelled into planning for upgrades of local grounds.

Mr Perrottet said this may include upgrades at Jubilee Stadium (Kogarah Oval).

Mr Coure said locals should welcome the Budget due on November 17.

"This is great news for St George region and the community," he said.

"If this announcement is in the budget it is a big win for all those that use the oval at Kogarah."

Labor MPs Chris Minns and Steve Kamper have welcomed the NSW government's possible investment in Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.

They say they are on a unity ticket with the government and say as local MPs they'd be "mad" to discourage any investment in local sporting infrastructure.

"We support the upgrade of Jubilee Stadium to ensure the St George Dragons have world-class facilities and continue to play at their spiritual home," Mr Minns said.

"No MP is going to say no to this type of investment in their electorate. Particularly when unemployment is nearly hitting double digits and there is a massive drop off in economic growth.

"We took a policy of suburban ground updates to the last election, so Labor supports it."

"We'd like to see a little more detail around the investment though, " Mr Kamper said.

"We need to see a parking and traffic scheme and a time frame for construction."

Mr Minns said the investment should also include funding for a district aquatic facility at Jubilee with a 50m pool and a gymnasium.

Mr Perrottet said the stadium would become a great community facility.

"It's great for those stadiums to get a revamp but they will also provide a great community facility, so we'll be looking to have these grounds as not just something for professional rugby league but also community sport, local markets and things like that," Mr Perrottet told 2GB radio.

"We've said we'll work through this on a case-by-case basis but we do want to move away from the big stadiums and try and ensure local communities over time have great facilities."

The Australian Rugby League Commission has lobbied the state government with a proposal on rejuvenating community grounds in lieu of the ANZ Stadium upgrade.

Nothing wrong with dreaming @possm

But I do agree that the Leagues Club could have been more ambitious with it's own development. At the very least, you'd think there'd be a hotel on the old Sizzler's site.
