Well we now have Josh Aloiai from the Tigers seeking a release from his ‘ iron clad ‘ contract to play with the , wait for it . . . none other than Manly .

Aloiai’s agent approached the Tigers for a contract extension only a few weeks ago , however the player himself quite suddenly changed his mind - as apparently did his agent - and has since vowed ‘ I ain’t eva gunna pla in dat jersay agan ! ! “ .

Rather coincidental that is what happen to young Saab ?

What I would like to know is just who are these players listening to - are they hearing little voices in their heads that say “ Don’t be a sap , play for Dessie he will take good care of you “ .

No ? I will tell you now - there someone at Manly who is attempting to have these CONTRACTED players from other clubs seek - demand a immediate release . That can only be one person - the individual who realizes what talent he desires in HIS team - he done the same thing at his time at the Bulldogs .

1 player in our Saab was suspicious , but now we have Aloiai doing the same that is 2 .

Where there is smoke there is fire , the NRL needs to investigate this otherwise a contract is worthless . The clubs know it , the agents and the players themselves - they only need to throw a tantrum and threaten never to wear that jersey again ( which to me is downright disgusting , as any club jersey needs to be respected by the player who wears it ) to get a release .

Gareth67 you are 100% spot on. Hasler did the same at Canterbury. He is a shifty guy and will do whatever it takes to get his man. NRL should step in and fine him but unfortunately they won't.

Saab wanted to leave because of Mary from what I heard, now that Mary is gone he has no real reason. This long distance travel thing is crap.

Jason Saab a no-show at Dragons training as he deals with personal issues

St George Illawarra winger Jason Saab has been a no-show at the first week of training after informing the club he needed time to deal with personal issues.

Saab's manager, Mario Tartak, has been agitating for a release from his contract with the Dragons for months, and his client was absent for new coach Anthony Griffin's first day in charge of the joint venture club on Tuesday.

The Herald understands Saab, who still has another two years to run on his contract with the Dragons, wants to link with the Sea Eagles as early the upcoming season on a deal worth more than what he is currently earning at St George Illawarra.

The news comes just two days after The Herald revealed Wests Tigers prop Josh Aloiai vowed "never to wear the Tigers jersey again" as he also pushes for a release to join the Sea Eagles as a replacement for Addin Fonua-Blake.

Saab, who lives in the western Sydney suburb of Greystanes, has told the club he is struggling with the commute from his family home to Wollongong each day. The Dragons have been told the ordeal surrounding his future has impacted on his wellbeing.

The Dragons understand his predicament and had been willing to release him to a western Sydney club that would absolve him of the problem he now finds himself in.

However, St George Illawarra officials are privately bemused by the situation that has unfolded given that the commute required from Greystanes to Manly's training base in Narrabeen is similar, if not more time-consuming, than the trip to Wollongong.

While Wollongong is almost double the distance from Greystanes than Narrabeen, the commute from Greystanes to the northern beaches often takes up to two hours in morning traffic, while Wollongong is about an hour and 20 minutes drive.

The Dragons are refusing to budge until they get an outcome that suits their roster, ending a recent attempt at a swap deal for Manly's Reuben Garrick.

The Dragons have turned their attention to a player at another club, potentially in another position, and could be closing in on a deal that would free Saab to join Des Hasler at the Sea Eagles.

Maybe the NRL will create a stand down policy for breach of contract! Standing down both Saab and his manager.

It is all about the money and because of this, the NRL should get involved because his contract has still two years to run and there is a rule that negotiations can only start in Nov 21 for Saab.

Saab, his manager and Manly have broken the rules and so the NRL should fine them all and stand down Saab for two years, terminate his contract and wipe him from the Dragons salary cap.

DISGRUNTLED DRAGONS YOUNG GUN MISSES TRAINING

Dragons winger Jason Saab missed the first week of training under Anthony Griffin after informing the club he needed time to deal with personal issues.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported Saab’s manager, Mario Tartak, who has been pushing for a release for his client for months, confirmed the young winger absent for new coach Anthony Griffin’s first day in charge on Tuesday.

The Dragons understand Saab’s predicament in that he does not want to travel from Western Sydney to Wollongong for every training session for family reasons.

However, St George Illawarra officials can’t understand how a commute from Greystanes where Saab lives to Manly’s training base in Narrabeen is any less time consuming with the traffic involved.

The Dragons are expected to play hard ball until they reach an outcome that suits the club.

And considering there’s to be a review this off season regarding contract reform and a players ability to break contract to sign for more at another club, I think our position is the right one.

There’s obviously more to this and the Dragons playing hardball more than likely isn’t contributing to that if it is indeed family related.
