Of course he did. He knew it was untenable to have a coach signed to another club. Didn’t Gus pay us some sort of compensation to release him early? It’s okay into your final year but not with 2 years remaining. I think he saw the mess he created and decided it was easier to leave than try to stay and fix it.
Oh come on. The fuss was made by Justin Pascoe.

No, it was reported Ivan paid compensation to the Tigers. Not the club.

Whether the club re-reimburse Cleary behind the scenes is another matter.

For the Tigers to have any chance at Crichton they’d have to throw really silly money at him, but they may be desperate enough to do just that.

They would be dumb enough to do it. They did it with Latrell and Addo-Carr. Ultimately both players had no intention of going there and used the Tigers to get their prices up.
Given the slimy agent, he has, Probably doing the same.

Only the Tigers fans and mainly Pascoe cried about it being untenable, coaches move from club to club all the time, not sure that it was untenable
Only into your final year, you have far too much power as a coach -retention and signing. Two years enables far too many potential conflicts. I think the NRL has now changed the rules.

It's not really surprising that the Crichton talks have been delayed. Ayoub will be under pressure to negotiate a deal separate to the handshake reached with Crichton under his previous management.

If Crichton signs on the same, or largely similar, terms agreed under the handshake, then Crichton's previous manager can claim the management fee. To avoid this claim from the previous manager, Ayoub needs to sufficiently improve the terms of the deal for his client.

In hindsight, the club would have been better off making no public comment about the handshake deal.

Lol Hooper. Stirring up shit again.
The Tigers forum (not LU) for the past 2 months has been talking about targeting Crichton. Either the fanciful idea of getting him or at least driving up his price, so we pay more. The penny must have finally dropped for Hooper - 2 months later. Surely a Packer to Penrith story must be imminent? Followed by a story of the old grievances between both clubs.

A couple of days ago this fool said Souths were targeting Nofoaluma, only for Souths to sign Mansour and Nofoaluma to re-sign at the Tigers.
Hooper is now the new Paul Kent No players seriously talk to him so he makes shit up
