Disagree. For one, it's a successful approach in the subcontinent, knowing that the pitches will usually be flat as the Hume for the first day or two and then fall apart later on. Get all the runs you need early. In that sense it is quite attacking; make the opposition field for three days and then know they have to bat the rest of the test, while the pitch is falling apart, to salvage anything at all.

The Australian mindset values "attacking" cricket over all else, right down through the grades, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with more circumspect tactics under the right circumstances. What does it matter how aggressive you were if you still win the match?
Going for the draw is a time honoured English tradition.

On Root - moves to 3rd on England's highest run scorers list, just 433 behind Graeme Gooch but still 4005 behind Alistair Cook

Can’t help but think their best are all from long gone generations either overshadowed by Bradman or the amount of tests more recent players get to play

Bess becoming the only bloke named Dom/Dominic to be successful in life.

And he’s bowling in sunnies. Absolute diamond in the rough.

We're doing ok.

Obviously we should have started going the tonk once we brought up the 100 to get India in by tea on day 1.

I mean no doubt JL would be looking to give Sibley the Renshaw treatment very soon. Replacing him with England's version of Marcus Harris.

Anyway, beggars can't be choosers so England just have to settle for 580 odd with India 4 down for less than 100 in reply.
