Lol, if we’re using the Roosters as a measure then about 80% of our squad probably shouldn’t be there.

Keighran went pretty well as a bit of a fix it man for us last year, even scoring a hattrick at centre. Seeing as we’ve lost 4 players in that position im sure you can probably fill the rest in?
He's been a journeyman his whole career playing for shit teams. He goes to a team and a system and a coaching staff that is light years ahead of us and is renowned for getting the best out of bit part players and still cant hold onto a spot.

Now explain to me what difference he would have made to us this year besides being injury cover? We have players that can be injury cover, we need good first graders.

Do you know the definition of journeyman? Pretty sure it’s not a 23 year old who’s 3 games in to his 2nd club. That’s a dumb statement.

So, 3 games into the season the Roosters lose their premier half and long term hooker, and because they have players who they’ve earmarked as future stars (Verrills, Walker) and chose to play a full time hooker (Marshcke) over him, that means he can’t hold his spot? Sorry mate you’re chatting absolute sh*t.

Keighran is excellent cover, can essentially play half, centre, back rower or come off the bench. That would have come in very handy seeing as we’ve had 5 different combos at centre this year already.

Keighran was 'ok', but I think it was a case of letting him go for O'sullivan, who was cheaper.

Unless we miraculously snag reynolds or a another similar half, we are going to have to except that our halves are average.

Hopefully our forwards make massive massive meters every set so that doesnt matter.

Bulldogs, Panthers, Warriors & now Roosters. That is 4 clubs that he has gone to try and get a first grade gig. So he is obviously not at his 2nd club.

If there is a position available and a player is not being picked for that position after being given a shot at it already, then yes that means he cannot hold his spot. But yeah sweet chatting shit.

Yes he is excellent cover because he can cover a number of positions. He doesn't play any of those positions good enough though is my point. That is why I think he would have not made a difference to us this year because other than plug a hole when there is an injury, what is the long term benefit of putting him in there?

We've had Hiku, Aitken, Pompey, Turner, Sironen & Montoya who are all capable of playing centre go down with injury. That is an almost unheard of injury toll for 1 position& it also shows that we have a shitload of players who are capable of filling in. On top of that we have Perham & Turner & SOS & CHT & Kodi & now Walsh who can cover halves. So how many more utilities and bit parts do you want us to have?

Yes, absolutely chatting shit referring to a 23 year old who has played for 2 clubs as a journeyman.

Yes, absolutely chatting shit saying that he ‘cannot hold a spot’ after said experienced or highly touted players return, even though you refer to him as a bit player? You can’t have it both ways.

Anyway, my point is that with all the injuries we’ve had, it would have been handy to have him around. Probably would have been given a shot ahead of Turner at centre (like he was last year) and would have been in the mix for a half spot too, hardly a difficult statement to comprehend

It still matters. We spend long periods in the opposition 20 without points to show for it.

He can't even make the Roosters 21 man squad. They've chosen a taped up Verills and a rookie in Marschke over him.

If he can't make it as a hooker or half in the chooks team, what possible difference would he have made to us?
Keighran made their week 1 team then broke his wrist. So he was actually their favoured option

yeah, not a journeyman...

nothong wrong with them anyway, the likes of Hiku, Evans maybe BMM and many who have been good for us fit in that category ...

Just saw Sam Walker is off contract at the end of the year.
Probably the biggest up and coming halfback in the game....why not go all in and offer him say 700k for 3 years.
We always pay overs for stars anyways, even though we have very little chance of snatching him, it drives his price up at the Roosters which is a small bonus.
Imagine having two of the hottest young talents in the comp in key positions for the price of RTS

Walker is very impressive. Roosters may not have him officially signed yet but he isn't going anywhere. Do you honestly think we have a realistic shot on snaring him from Uncle Nick and Co?

I'd love us to go after Connor Tracey. Stuck filling in on the wing/centre for Cronulla, looks great every time he touches the ball regardless of where they slot him in. Maybe we could lure him over with the prospect of having a more cemented first grade spot.

why do we keep ignoring the UK? The Raiders have proven you can find some really solid players there and Brown surely has some contacts from his time coaching in the Super League.

Nope, slim to none really. But as a young fulla wouldn’t you have a look at 700k over the 300 odd they’ll offer him for the next few years?
Lam is back in the next few rounds so it will be interesting, do they a lot him straight back in, maybe Williams gets disgruntled a wee bit.

Anyways it’s all speculation, would be a great signing though

Aidan Sezer and Blake Austin are the only halves that are unsigned for next year that I can see.

I'd be keen on Sezer. But not if we had to pay overs.

Brown used to coach Jonny Lomax. Be amazing if we could get him.

Yeah, Like I said with Adam reynolds, if we offer him big money, he'll either come, or it'll drive up his price.

Should do the same for Williams.

Id be keen for either of those or even guys like Connor Watson or Tex Hoy.

I really like what Conner Watson is doing at the Knights at the moment as that nippy ball playing 13. Essentially does Jazz’s role but better, with the added bonus of being able to plug the gap at hooker for 20 min, and can cover half if there is an injury.

Jazz’s contract is up at the end of the year, I wonder with Browns connections we could pick Connor up for about the same price (3-400k at a guess)

Another thing I’ve noticed is how slow Ah Mau is up the middle and wonder if the game has passed him by due to the increase in pace. No longer getting those fast play the balls, and with him taking up a decent chunk of cap space, maybe shouldn’t be retained at the end of the year given that we have players like JTB and Ale who are younger, faster, and not on as much coin?

We’ve got AFB, Bunty, Evans, JTB and Ale, plus BMM could fill in there if needed.

Ha wow, we would have zero chance of landing Sam Walker. For so many reasons. The Roosters will fit him under their sombrero for a start. There would be outrage if he signed for us, the (not unearned) 'that'll be a career killer' for a guy so talented so young. NSW wouldn't stand for it. The media wouldn't stand for it.

We've never bought a top NRL class halve and we probably never will, unless they're Kiwi (closest we got was Foran and that whole shit storm). We need to develop one in our system - CHT, Walsh - or buy one like Maloney who was stuck in a list and had the pedigree in the Aussie system but couldn't get game time. If we can't manage either of those, we'll still be here in 20 years bemoaning how we haven't made to the finals more than once since 2011.
